Well guys, here it is! WA:MOPI ported for the new editor.

-INFORMATION-
WA:MOPI was a project I started back in.. 2009 more or less. I was very young at the time so there were a lot of spelling errors and other things involving the editor that I didn't understand. Originally the project was going to replace WA1's files so there could be an actual Hub, but I abandoned that. Since then MOPI has evolved into to my "fake hub" version for Editor v0.96 with a lot of things fixed. I have taken that version, made it into a real hub, fixed stuff even more, and added some things here and there.

Now, I wanted to keep the original idea of the project, so there aren't very many new editor objects/magic in this game.
However, the future hubs I make will of course include the new editor toys!

I thank my final testers Blast!10 and Qloof for helping me with this, and everyone else who has worked with me on this. Unless there's something major that needs fixed, this should be the final version of the game.

There is at least 130 gems and 52 coins in the game.

-INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS-

In order to play WA: MOPI you need two things:
- An account on this Forum so you will be able to see the game download at the bottom of this post.
- And the Wonderland Adventures 3.00 Editor.
After you have those things, please follow the installation instructions below.

-INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS-

The files in the Leveltextures folder go in UserData\Custom\Leveltextures
The "WA MOPI#Mysteries of POW Island" folder goes in UserData\Custom\Hubs
The icons mopi.bmp file goes in UserData\Custom\Icons
The "MOPITex" folder goes in UserData\Custom\Objecttextures (Don't just stick the files inside MOPITex in there, literally stick the MOPITex folder inside the Objecttextures folder so it goes UserData\Custom\Objecttextures\MOPITex\)

I had to upload this in 2 zips because of the forum's size limit.

-VIDEO SOLUTIONS-
Many thanks to Garirry who took the time to record an entire playthrough of the game. You can find the videos here:
Part 1
Part 2

Jutomi has also recorded a playthrough of the Hub! You can find the videos here:
viewtopic.php?p=369718#p369718

-BONUS CONTENT-
I have compiled a collection of files that relate to the production of this hub!
In this collection you'll find:
- Images of the hub in progress along with some renders created by Blast!10 using Povray.
- The original MOPI trailer (preview video) and almost 13 minutes of very early gameplay footage that was captured by Qloof for the trailer.
- The original submission files for 3 adventures along with 2 demo versions of the "fake hub" version.
- The final "fake hub" version that was released before the hub was ported to the WA3 Editor!
Click here to download the Bonus Content!

Let me know what you guys think!

Congrats on releasing the first WA3E hub! :D

Unfortunately, I can't download it yet, because my version of .zip still doesn't work, but I'll be able to extract it on my dad's computer in a couple hours or so. But the screenshots sure looked good.

Thanks! :D

And I'm not quite sure of what you mean.. Is there something wrong with the zips I uploaded or is it just your unzipping program? :?

It's problems with my computer, don't worry about it. Sorry for the confusion.

Congradulations, jdl!

This is an amazing hub, so far!

I've had to take a break, though. The puzzles are getting harder.

Uh-oh...

the north gate past Pow Island MAVs...

is that on my part, or the games?

I think that's on your end, it was working fine when I tried it over here.

Well, a lot of the puzzles were either quite easy, or relied on fake difficulty such as finding things in a sea of fake walls or finding invisible things. Still, I can't say this hub was bad
because gaining access to a duck pond is the best ending to anything ever.

Fun hub so far! The puzzles are pretty simple so far, but the scenery is gorgeous. :)

This is my fault.. All the adventures in Cloudzlee and House of Zadalad were made by me in the original "fake hub" version. At the time I was getting a little tired of working on the project and was getting less and less motivation to finish it so I pushed it out with really badly designed, easy levels. When porting this over, I didn't want to change the original adventures too much, so I decided to build on to what was there, making even more of a mess.

My next Hub will not have any of these issues though, I can promise you. :)

Also, I suppose there can be two "endings" to this.

At least the memory is still there with the fireflower's red texture. :)

I loved this hub. :D

The difficulty level was perfect for me as i'm not good at the games :)

Thanks!

I just found out that ghosts get real angry if you don't wipe your feet before entering their houses.
I'm off to use the 2 strange relics I have discovered.

I have two relics, too...

but, I don't know what to do with them. :|

And the North section just MAVs for me, yet I don't know why. :(

Did you install everything correctly? (Level textures, object textures, etc.)

As for the items:

I think so; I just unzipped the thingies and placed them in the correct places in the editor.

If that's not how you're supposed to do it, then the fact that I got this far to begin with is a miracle. :|

Do you have custom models..?

Posted: Wed Mar 19, 2014 5:54 pm
by Jutomi
All right, I copied the textures and pasted them inside the textures folder, but not inside your folder to which is inside the textures folder.

That seems to have worked. :|

Why it will won't work that way for level textures, but will for the chompers, I have no idea.

Glad to see that it's working now. :)
And nope, MOPI doesn't have any custom models.

Just to make sure you've got everything in the right place, here's the file structure for everything:

UserData\Custom\Icons\icons mopi.bmp

UserData\Custom\Hubs\WA MOPI#Mysteries of POW Island\[adventure folders and hub folder are in here - 25 adventure folders, 1 hub folder, 1 hublogo image]

UserData\Custom\Leveltextures\[the 16 level texture files go in here]

UserData\Custom\Objecttextures\MOPITex\[the 11 object textures for MOPI go in here]

All right, I finished the hub, with 103454 points!

Thank you, jdl, for the first hub after POTZ!

And thank you for your kind words. :D

Just curious, how many coins and gems did you get?
I've updated the first post with how many I think there are in the game.

The coins are indefinitely right, but...

the gems, I have no idea.

Yeah, the fact that the Cloudzlee levels generally took me <30 seconds wasn't really a good thing. A bit more story in the future might be nice as well, especially on a hub. I can understand you not wanting to make major changes though.

Or you can walk away after completing the adventure without picking up the key, like I did.

Great hub! :D Pretty easy at some points, and pretty hard in some others. I hope you make a hub in the future with the POTZ elements in it more. :)

Anyway, I think you might want to know that there are 5 ways to fail in the hub. :(
1) In a hub level with Pow, click somewhere to walk there and as you're walking, shoot Pow in the direction you're heading. This is a bit hard to time, but you can do it whenever you have Pow (and enough space).

2)In the second hub area with Blink, Blink onto an island with both teleporters deactivated and waste the rest of your charges.

3)In the same area, by the end of it, Pow the first box, Blink past the Pow charger, Blink in the lower right corner of the area (so you're trapped in between two boxes) and waste the rest of your charges.

4)Use the cheat code on the first level, and you won't have gloves afterward. (I did this to see what happens if you don't play Douglas' ID.

5)What MWM said above, about not collecting the key.

Thanks! And yes, I will use MOFI/PotZ elements in future adventures/hubs.

About the hub failing.. I do know about #1 and #4.. Not really sure what I could have done about #4 though unless I made an adventure to get the gloves before the POW Training Rooms. As for the other failures, those got right past me!
I'll make sure to be more careful of my item placement and glove chargers next time. :)

Since collecting the gloves wasn't a real objective, you could have had the wizard guy give you the gloves.

Ah, yes, that would have worked as well. I'm actually not really sure why I didn't do it like that in the first place.. Probably because I only touched up that adventure and left the gloves in without thinking it would be a problem.

Are you actually gonna make another one? I would love that.

Do you mean another hub? If so, then yeah. :D

I'm currently getting ideas together and am going to try and make/get some materials for my next project.

No idea when I'll actually start working on it though.
I'm going to try and make this next project an independent one (no outside help with levels, adventures, etc).
