New Adventure -- Conundrum (Simple 02)

University eats up a lot of time from me, so instead of polishing this level up, including additional puzzles and having super-duper-ultra-mega-ridiculous misdirection, here's a puzzle that is little more than
just its main trick. Amusingly, the final size turned out to be 14x14.
One key, two scritters, three buttons, four gates. A layout that is apparently impossible -- unless you can figure out the main trick, after which the level is solvable in less than 30 seconds.
Also, this is the first time I've used dialogue in an adventure -- I really wanted to use a signpost. Had a devil of a time figuring out how to
end that dialogue.
Please tell me how fast were you able to find the solution -- I'd love to know how hard this trick is to figure out
without misdirection.
No glitches necessary.

I finish the adventure without any glitches

.... Nice idea by the way.
I found the trick after 5 restarts if I'm correct.

That was a bit faster than I expected.

Your solution is correct! Though I don't think there are any other viable options, so there should be no alternative solutions.
I think this trick could've been the basis of a
really hard puzzle had I added more stuff and gave it layers of misdirection like I usually try to do.
What was your first reaction? I wanted to get a "you've got to be kidding me" first reaction by making the layout as clean and impossible-looking as I could, making it look like an unsolvable paradox.

I was flashing both scritters to blue and yellow button and take the green key as my first reaction

That is, indeed, what I did!
My first thought was "Alright, I guess I'll play around".
Then it was "Maybe this key can be used like my gem..?"
The final one was "Oh! Sneaky. :3"
Thank you for the very neat and intricate adventure, Muzozavr!

I solved this in less than 5 minutes. This was still really clever, though.
My first reaction: Where the Uo should I place everything?

That was a great adventure! As usual, me too dumb to solve puzzles. But yes indeed, the concept was marvelous.

But what happened to the other scritter?
A cute little adventure; definitely could trip someone up, but fortunately for me I had just played Sailboat_Cat's adventure where they did something similar but with pop magic
Here's my
video solution. Many thanks for the puzzle
