The Wonderland Board

I am at the star summit, I have done all the areas north, west, southwest and east. The southeast way is just water with no crossing yet. How do i get back to barren and guggenheimer?

That's not the way to Barren. The southeast area is a place you get to later that I won't spoil, but to get back to Barren, you need to cross the town (to the east) and get past the water thingie place, then you will be able to access Barren.
