[COMPATIBILITY] WA3E-friendly antiviruses list

There are many antivirus programs available and many of them affect performance of certain software, mostly based on old engines such as Blitz3D (the one Wonderland games are based on). As I had various issues with WA3E and antivirus software, I decided to make a topic in which the case can be discussed. I'll update the list in the first post as I get more reports from the community. If you have antivirus software which is not on the list please write in this topic if you experience (or not) any problems with Wonderland Adventures trilogy games.

Last update: 19th May 2015

Blacklist - AVs known to cause problems, whitelisting WA game's folder doesn't help or isn't possible:
Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition
McAfee SecurityCenter

Whitelist - AVs which work fine with WA games, whitelisting WA game's folder helps if problems occur:
avast! Free Antivirus 2015
AVG AntiVirus Free Edition 2014*
AVG AntiVirus Free Edition 2015*
McAfee Internet Security*
Microsoft Security Essentials
Norton Security Suite

*whitelisting recommended

You can add Norton to the whitelist. It works just fine with WA3E.

Which version of Norton exactly?

Norton Security Suite. I haven't tested it with Norton 360 yet.

Actually, I'm not sure. Is there a difference between the two of them? :?

This topic is a great idea! I will later experiment with various antiviruses and see which one causes problems with WA and I'll post it here.

Mcafee should be okay to use now! If you go into Real-Time Scanning and click on "Excluded Files" you can add editor3d.exe to the list so that it won't get scanned.

Personally I hate McAfee, so I'm not using their products, but which edition of their AV you have? McAfee SecurityCenter (shipped with Dell notebooks) doesn't offer the "Excluded Files" option.

Hmm, that's strange. You'd think that they would all use the same code base with different features added or removed based on which version you get. If excluding files is one of those features then that's pretty dumb to be honest.. Anyway, "Mcafee Internet Security" is what mine says.

Microsoft Security Essentials can be added to the whitelist now. I ran a few tests, and I didn't run into any problems.

Tucker, this is AntiVirus (AV) software-related topic, I see nothing about videos here... Please don't confuse other users with such posts.

Can you try re-testing WAE with AVG 2015 without excluding its folder? I haven't excluded it and it hasn't increased much of the processor usage. Although my computer is quite powerful, so I don't know if that's the reason why it runs well.

It seems to be important what Windows version you're running. On W7 it needs whitelisting to work at full pace for me, while on W8.1 it runs smooth without it. I've also observed that AVs cause more problems when custom stuff is used in a level, I have no idea why it happens.

So in general to avoid possible problems it's better to whitelist it, but as long as it works for you don't bother yourself about it.

To be exact, my computer is running W7 64-bit. I'm not sure whether 32-bit or 64-bit causes more/less problems with antiviruses. Although if I won't have any problems, I assume I won't whitelist it. :)
