Here's a quick test level for you to practice downloading with.

When posting your own levels, please use the subject line "New Level: ....". You might also wish to provide the following information (you might also wish to post your solution, or ask for others to reply and post their solutions).

Name: Forum Test Level
Author: Loof
Date: November 14, 2003
Description: Just a little box and water puzzle.
Difficulty: Easy

How to download this level?
i) Make sure you are registered and have logged in. Otherwise levels will not show up in this message.
ii) If you are successfully logged in, you should see a "LEV" symbol with "Download" underneath it. Click on "Download".
iii) A standard windows download box will appear. Click on Save.
iv) Select your 'Return To Wonderland/Custom Levels' directory and press save. If you already have a level with that name in this directory, rename either file, or the old version will be overwritten.

Best wishes,
Loof!

Hello,
Just wanted to say that the sample level downloaded, copied/pasted with no problem and functions as well as any other level in the game.
BTW. Took only about 5 min. of hitting different keys/key combos to remember how it was in the first Wonderland. Yes I know. Should read the instructions. No time. 8)

Anyone working on their own level yet?

Just wondering if anyone has tested the level editor and is working on a level yet. I'm currently trying to design a fan mission for the video game Thief2, and the Thief discussion forums provide a lot of help and encouragement. I'm hoping to find a community of Wonderland people here who want to support and assist each other while designing our own levels. I have no idea yet how to go about doing this, but I'm sure going to try and have a lot of fun doing it! :)

Glad you mentioned the tutorial...I hadn't seen that yet so I went looking for it. Yeah, that might make it a bit easier! Well, I have started playing around with the level editor, when I need a break from playing Wonderland (hah, you can imagine how much I'm getting done now that we can play levels AND try to build them ourselves!) I imagine it will be quite some time before I have a level that can actually be played, though.

Download not working

I don't know if this is the right place to put this, but here goes.... I tried downloading all the new levels that people have submitted as instructed above, but they don't show up in RTW when I click the Custom Games button. When I go into the file, it tries to open in Printmaster and can't. It is saving as a PHP file, not a LVL file. When I tried downloading again I saved it as the only other option, all files. What am I doing wrong? I hope I can get these levels as I am a real fan of both games and was looking forward to playing them. :(

Sharon,
when you download the custom levels, make sure they go to the right directory, normally something like this:

C:\\Program Files\Return To Wonderland v1.01\CustomLevels\Wonderland 101

Then when you play, make sure to select custom levels and then wonderland 101
hope that helps :)

Thanks for your quick answer. Unfortunately, that didn't work. :( I tried downloading the above test level and it didn't show up. I am running windows 98SE so that shouldn't be the problem. I downloaded the test level on the level exchange and had no problem. Any other suggestions? :?: I confess I'm puzzled.

Here's a possible suggestion.

First, you don't need to place it in the Wonderland 101 directory. As long as it's in the Custom Levels directory, it will be fine.

Next, if your computer is placing a different extention at the end (php, not lev), then you can just rename it with the lev extention. Just click on the file, and right click Properties. You should be able to see the name of the file with the extention. You can change it there. Plus if the extention has a file association, change it to unknown.

I have XP, and can't remember if 98SE was any different, but I think it's the same.

Hope this helps.

Thanks bpurcelll. I can't change anything when I right click Properties. It's saving it as follows: ADVENTURES01.LEV
Type: Broderbund Easy Prints Type
MS-DOS name: ADVENT~1.PHP
Attributes: Archive (checked)
The file location is okay. When I just tried to redownload the above test level the only options I got were PHP or All Files. I couldn't change it to LEV. Is there a way to change it? I do appreciate the help. :)

Hi Sharon,

just to double-check... you left-click on the "Download" button (just underneath the LEV image in body of the post)? Maybe try right-clicking on it and then selecting "Save Target As...".

(and in Win98 you might need to select "Rename" rather than "Properties" in order to rename the file)

Great! :D I took your advice on right clicking the link and selected "Save Target Link As" and it worked! I should have thought of that myself. Thanks so much. I am really looking forward to trying the levels that other players have made. Thank you so much!
