Lyglo the Triangle (Updates Topic)
Bump/D-P
Well, with about two and a half days before I'm back at home, things should start picking up the pace again soon. I still can't update from here because the internet connection is so low.
Once I get home, I should be able to get back to updating like before.
Just one bit of bad news here - I was working on world 3 on my mom's laptop, when it slipped off of the table (was on an angle, so now I have it on my lap instead), and the USB stick with all my data on it got bent. It's now at an almost 45 degree angle (the case and the port, that is). Thankfully, it still works, but seeing as there are two whole days of driving before I get home, if anything... Unfortunate were to happen to it, I might lose all my world 3 data.
Just a heads-up of the situation. When I get home, however, first thing I'll do is get a new USB stick.

Wow, the pace has been picking up so fast, the updates are gone before they were posted!Qloof234 on July 22 wrote:Well, with about two and a half days before I'm back at home, things should start picking up the pace again soon. Kidding aside, is this still being worked on, or have you moved on to some other new project?

Okay... I really, really need to get things back in order here. I just managed to get the latest build of Lyglo on my main computer, and started playing it to see how I could get things going, and came to the conclusion that the current engine is just too difficult.
In the end, I decided that the only thing I could do would be to reprogram the entire game from the ground up.
So far, it's actually going well. Lyglo can move around and won't fall through the ground, and won't get stuck on ceilings this time (!), because I used a different method to get the platform engine working.
I expect that a demo of the game with the new engine should be out sometime this month.
Only problem is that I can't get power-ups to work right now. Going to go mess with options in the game and see if it'll work.

It's working very well so far - Whakkas still get stuck on walls (can't fix that, there isn't an alternate method for their bouncing), but Lyglo doesn't stick on the ceiling or the walls or anything. Also, the new engine provides support for slopes:
The start of a new version of level 1. Uses some gentle slopes like in Mario World. Maybe there should be an option menu that lets you change the game to SMW mode...?
Just kidding.
A bit further on. The speed up power works fine, and the enemies hurt Lyglo like they should again.
I also have one last picture to post here:
I'll leave it up to you guys to work this one out.

I think a demo including the first few levels should be done by my birthday (5 days!).Anyone who knows what this is, it's meant to be left a secret for those who don't. *wink*

and this is coming along nicely

To Shorty, who was immortalized in an adventure.
To Marinus, who was my community older brother.
To Janet, who I will remember every time I wear a toque.
May these lost Wonderlanders find true adventure beyond us.

Okay, I found the latest engine build of Lyglo and was about to start working on it when I realized that the copy of MMF2D I have on my laptop is missing a load of extension files I need to run the new engine.
As of such, I plan on copying said files over to this computer to see if it'll work. If not, then I have to work on the game on my old computer.
In the meantime, I managed to program a multiplayer character select/switching engine in MMF2. I don't have any plans to put it into Lyglo, but I might. Depends on how the engine works with four players.
EDIT: Okay, I managed to get MMF2 (laptop) to load the new Lyglo engine perfectly.
For the record, the level editor is something I'll work on later, because I don't even know if I can get it working 100%.

I'm not out of ideas, I'm just in that awkward phase of getting all the old engine levels working in the new engine.MyNameIsKooky wrote:If you're bored and need ideas, make a level where Lyglo slides on buttered toast in pursuit of a bandit who stole his cheese pizza.
If that's too ridiculous, I'll just use it for Wefight - The Game.
I might make use of the sliding concept for one level in world 3, but I don't think it'll involve sliding on toast in chase of pizza.
