5th Anniversary Level Competition Set!!!

Post by Midnight Synergy » Sun Sep 16, 2007 5:56 pm

Alrighty, here we go! Thirteen Levels (hope you're not superstitious) for your consumption, enjoyment, and bewilderment. ;)

Now for the scoring:
Each level should be scored in three aspects:
a) Fun: 0-4 points, a zero score would be an unplayable level, a four-point score would be an exceptionally fun level (use your own judgement as to what you think of as "fun" - you might enjoy really tough logic puzzles, or a fun and crazy rollercoaster ride).
b) Inventiveness: 0-3 points, a zero score would be a level in which you've "seen it all before", a 3-point score would indicate a level with new ideas or very inventive uses of gameplay elements.
c) Anniversary Theme: 0-3 points, a zero score would be a level that has nothing to do with the Anniversary, a three-point score would be a level that celebrates Wonderland's fifth anniversary so well, you want to have the level creator plan your next birthday bash!
In total, then, your score will be out of a maximum possible 10 points.

Please submit your scores to me (midnight@midnightsynergy.com) by October 15th - you have plenty of time to play as much of these levels as possible, but don't forget to send in your scores ;).

You do not need to play all levels in order to submit scores - just submit scores for the levels you have played.

We will collect and tabulate scores, and post results/announce winners in the next issue of the Midnight Post.

Have fun!

Yawhoooooooooooooooieeeeee

Before I dive in, can we end up with more than one with the score of 10? That may sound kinda stupid but what if we love em all?

Yep, but it would help if you try to differentiate them in your scoring (a bunch of 10s doesn't help me select a winner. :) )

Oh, and it would be great if you'd submit your scores in the three categories, not just the sum total. Thanks!

I've been waiting for these, I'm so excited. Went to lunch with my sis-in-law and I couldn't wait to get home, I was sooooo hoping these would be here waiting.

Let the games begin.

Hmm, those seem pretty hard, I could only complete four of them for now. (including my own of course!)
Great job, everyone.

Yes, some do seem hard. So Mr. P what do we do if we would like a hint or some help? I'm really stuck on one of them.
Did anyone manage to get the coins in entry #03 or am I missing something? I don't think I am but just checking.

I guess it's all right to ask since were not guessing who did what?

Yes it does seem impossible. Especially the rainbow coins, MAYBE the bonus coins can be jumped to, but you CANNOT get out from the rainbow coins even if you do get to them.

I didn't get those coins either

I've tried 1 - 6 at this point and haven't been able to complete all of them.

I was wondering the same about hints or spoilers. Did each creator give any kind of spoiler? Could each creator send Mr. P a hint or spoiler on their level just in case anyone asks for it?

Coolies! I'm not giving up yet. I've solved 5 already but certainly not the first 5. I'll be checkin' back when I start to give up <gasp>

Go, robyn! I've got 7 of them down. (3 of the first 5, 3 of the last 5, and 1 in the middle  ) Almost had another, but then got to the exit and realized that in my haste to get though, I'd forgotten a very obvious coin at the very beginning and couldn't go though the gates.

These are fun. Well done to all of you who submitted.

Ok got 8 done and I can see how to get one other one but I can't get my timing right

The others ones I don't "see" at all and am still tryin' to figure them out.

I agree, all GREAT submissions. Great signs! Great beginnings and endings on some, how cool. As I'm doing them I'm taking notes (yes I'm a geek) and trying to figure out who did what as well as score.

I think I know a few of them but I'm not sure who all submitted levels so it's kinda hard.

Ok back it at now.

Wahoo!!! Gold Stars on all but the one that had coins that don't seem reachable. (Anyone have any luck with that one? Or is the general concensus that the coins are just for display?)

What a loud and amazing ride this was. Pure party craziness!!!!!

Congratulations, Patrick, on 5 years of the BEST GAME EVER.
And Happy Birthday Stinky and Loof!

I've finished 8 of the entries, definately stuck on at least 2 of them. The coins in #3 are unreachable. Everyone did a major bang-up job. I didn't get anything done yesterday because I couldn't tear myself away from my PC.

Anon E. Mouse sent in a Solution for #12
The first trick is getting past the first chomper. To do that, push the boulder, WAIT A BIT, and THEN follow the boulder. If you're too late, you will be bitten by the chomper, but if you're too early, you will bounce off the boulder, and slide back into the chomper.
After the wild ride that follows, you'll be teleported to the actual puzzling part.
Now you're ready to start the solution!

The Sticky Cubes Room:
First of all, DON'T COLLECT THE BONUS COIN YET!
Your objective here is to destroy the metal box. That will make the generator kick in and cover the red button.
To do it, first move the metal box one tile left. Then move the top sticky cube above the trampoline, and jump up on the trampoline.
The sticky cube will jump on the teleporter, but will stick to the other cube that's there.
Move the barrel one tile above the trampoline, and jump up on the trampoline.
The barrel will bounce on the sticky wall, and explode, destroying the metal box.

The Chomper Room:
Don't collect the bottom rainbow coin yet!
Push the boulder to the right and it will bounce off the alarm clock. Quickly step back and one tile left to the coin. When the boulder returns, push it up.
Now free the chomper, and go grab the alarm clock. When the chomper comes to you, slide back.
Now push the boulder left, back in the previous room. It will stop by the bonus coin. (I hope you haven't collected it yet?) The chomper should stay behind the yellow teleporters.
Go back, and push the boulder to the right, then step one to the left and two down.
When the boulder teleports, it will be redirected by the chomper and will stay on the left button.
Go grab the last rainbow coin (the one which stopped the boulder) and go in the next room.

The Sphere Room
Push the bottom sphere down, and then go left in the teleporter. The two spheres will crash, allowing you to collect the bonus coin.

The Last REAL Room
First of all, use the middle trampoline to start the jump U-R and collect the bonus coins. Jump left on the top trampoline -- and then return in this room.
Your objective here is to block the right side of the bottom teleporter with two boulders -- to do that, first come from the LEFT side in the top teleporter (to push the boulder) then go to the left boulder and push it up, then to the right. It will go right where we need it.
Once done, use the bottom trampoline to start the jump U-R-U-R which gets us to

The Exit Room
Well, this isn't a puzzle, after all. Simply grab those coins and get out.
Happy Birthday, Wonderland!

Ditto, Robyn.

It seems that "Not how I did it" is a phrase I've uttered too many times and I suspect I've done quite a few of these "not as intended."   So, I wasn't going to say anything.

RE: #12 - loved how stinky looked like he was riding on a a burning rocket ship at the beginning.

But they are still fun, aren't they? :D

Are those the numbers of the level? #8 consumes, #7 Enjoy, #13 bewilders? Or the number of levels that accomplish each task? Or are you scoring the competition as a whole?

You are all so funny.
RE: #12 - loved how stinky looked like he was riding on a a burning rocket ship at the beginning.
I sure needed the spoiler since the beginning was the only part I could do. #2 had me confused but finally figured it out. I've got 3 more I'm stuck on, two I'm not sure how to even get started. But we have till Oct. 15th so maybe by then, who knows. Haven't given up yet.

Anon E. Mouse was also kind enough to send in this:

Entry #11
The 3 main puzzles Purple Red and White can be solved in any order, but all 3 are needed to appraoch the exit. The other TPs are exit back to the central area.
The hint 'rulld' in Purple applies to the beginnig of that puzzle. Make sure you are not left with a wooden box on the left side. If that happens better restart again. The 2 reflectors are for getting wooden boxes destroyed by the exit the darkblue TP. See where you place them make use of the red loof.

The Red puzzle you see that theres only 1 green boulder and only 1 red boulder so be carefull. Bring the red over to the right side and keep there. Bring out the green voulder. Now get a blue boulder out and have red hit green so the green hit the blue. Keep the red in same place so you can repaet with another blue boulder the green will return in same place. After you get 3 bleu boulders youcan read the hint.

The White puzzle you must get the green boulders over the timerbuttons. The hints give the idea for the most easiest order use the icecubes to stop them. With number 3 try see where to put the icecube this is not dificult. Boulder 4 is more dificult but it is for bonuscoins.

The path to the exit is not dificult but be carefull with the wooden boxgenerater. You can have to many boxes. Hope it helps good luck!!!!!!
(Edited, it's for #11 not #12 as originally stated)
