"D" tile and Snow element

Post by Loirae » Thu Mar 02, 2006 6:47 am

For people who create levels with custom textures and add the snow element, you might find this interesting:

The custom texture "D" tile doesn't display as you intended when you add the little snowflake, or snow element to a level. You will get snowflakes falling, but the Custom "D" tile reverts to a blueish-white pattern.

I asked Patrick about it and he said it's not a glitch and is that way because of how previous version worked.

In levels that are whiteish in nature, it's probably not noticeable. in levels where tiles have specific purposes (like tightrope where "D" is a corner of the rope), or in levels with darker colors, you will have to choose between snow and a strange tile, or no snow and your intended look. See screen shots below for an example. This will happen with ANY custom texture when combined with the snow element. not just mine.

Something to think about when planning your next level.

This only happens on two of the normal textures, Garden and Sand. The rest stay the same with or without snow. Or am I completely wrong? I can't remember now to be honest.

Anyway, back to the point. It does only do it on the D tile, so if you make sure that texture is your least important one for the overall look it shouldn't matter too much. I hade to rearrange my Wintersnow texture because I had a patch of melted snow on D which didn't show when it was snowing.

The only problem is, like you say, when you have a specific role for each tile which will be lost with the snow icon. Pehaps we should mention when we post a texture whether the snow icon would be detremental to the theme, just so folks know what to expect.

Good point Loirae, thanks for bringing it up. :D

It is a secret.

To find it out you must go into the deluxe set in Return To Wonderland Deluxe or Platinum and look for secret signs in the levels.

Nobody's point is perfectly legit - There's a reason it's a super secret feature. Some people don't want to just click open a topic to find out about it by accident. Taking the effort out of it makes it less worth it, because then it's not so secret anymore.

I now found
SUPER SECRET FETURE C
CLUE 3 OF 3

TO ACTIVATE "W"- ICON, "RAINBOW" MUST APPEAR.

What do I do now?

I also want to know what the feature says in "Rescue Mission"because I can't get to the super-secret feature.
