So it's probably one of those three. Also, if we are going to go through an advanced check we must see the users who sometimes replace e with 3 and see who posts near when BEN_DROWNED posted.

I have spare emails, but I'm too lazy right now to make another account.

Currently making synth music as treehann
I make 2d games too at: treehann.itch.io
My old sig-bar image broke but I'm still thanking Pauline and Janet forever for their art!

Yeah, well, I only have two e-mails - an old one for my old account that's null (can't use it) and my current one, which I use for this account and other stuff. I don't have any other e-mails or the patience to create another one just for a joke like this.Marinus wrote:Good luck, Sherlock.
Of course, everyone would say that.Qloof wrote: I don't have a spare e-mail to use to register an account.![]()
This is funny.

Well, I'll admit right now: it was me. I honestly expected TheoX and/or Qloof234 to see it first and to reply, that's what it was for... but Marinus managed to dissolve the creepiness of the joke pretty much completely in one clean stroke, essentially. I was really speechless when I saw his post.
I even used an anonymous proxy server to change the apparent IP address... I explained it all briefly to MS when I was sending the registration e-mail and waited until they activated the account... I worked on that joke, I really did!
My own reply was to keep the illusion to ensure that someone could still react... I was even clever enough to make a time distance between the replies to make sure no one would suspect anything. And ~xpr'd~ did react eventually, but after that, billy bob's logical approach turned this into a "who posted it" puzzle. So now the joke has done all it could do... there's no real reason for me to keep it a secret anymore.
I am still happy that two of my measures (replying to my own post and making a time distance between them) led billy bob to the wrong conclusions, eventually.
Misdirection is your best friend in jokes like this.
As for this:
I kinda wished the real BEN of this forum (ben-09) would come and say that to us. It would've been awesome. Like "he was among us all along?!" Creepy epicness.

As for this:
I had an idea to have a "band" name for my ModPlug Tracker music "Game Over". Turns out someone had gameover@gmail.com, and even projectgameover@gmail.com so I was forced to be creative with the username. Eventually it turned out a real band called "Game Over" already exists (by the way, the two e-mails above are not theirs!!) and on top of that I didn't really have enough time/motivation to finish the "album" completely (need to start working on it again, I guess) so at that point I ditched the email altogether... then I decided that for a joke involving BEN, it's more than useful.

Rest in peace, Kym. I hardly knew ya.
Rest in peace, Marinus. A bright star, you were ahead of me on my own tracks of thought. I miss you.

Muzo, I'm sorry that I sort of ruined your creepy joke; it was just after BB's post that I realized that. (actually I didn't read the whole story)
But well, we've had fun anyway. When BB started to play Sherlock Holmes I had a little idea that it might be you, and I already started to post: "It muz be someone who's quite clever", but then I discarded it, since I had already done enough "harm" by my first post.

Nah, it's OK. After all, the result is funny and I did have that beautiful "whaaaaaat?!" moment, so it's OK.Marinus wrote:Muzo, I'm sorry that I sort of ruined your creepy joke; it was just after BB's post that I realized that.

"It muz be someone who's quite clever"

Which means that if I wanted to continue (which would be stupid, since the joke's purpose is over, but anyway) I could try to find out your bigger suspects (you were suspecting Qloof234 and TheoX, weren't you?) and then try to redirect suspicions. Since they didn't do this joke, they would reply accordingly and the only logical result would be that BEN_DROWNED is someone else. The IP address would support that case.billy bob wrote:You were my third biggest suspicion at who did it.
I was ready to play with people for quite some time, but the way Marinus handled it, it totally lost its purpose in the funniest way possible.

Clever you...billy bob wrote:I was tempted to say it was me so the person who really did it had to post that it was him or her.

LOL, the end was epic.
This could go into the music thread, but it's a full album and on YouTube this is split into three parts... here if you have a fast connection or let them preload... it will be gapless. Which is what we need.
Renard -- Silence

For full impact, darken the room, listen in headphones and make sure to (try to) listen from start to finish.
I actually did listen to the whole thing, BTW -- audio-nightmare at its best.
