The topic title doesn't say anything. That's just what Nobody was thinking at the moment he started the topic. Perhaps he's thinking different now after he posted such long stories there.Deeman wrote:Read the topic title. It's temporary.
After all Wefight is Nobody's party. Ask him what he wants. If he doesn't respond, then forget about it.

Thank you for using an image that wasn't even applicable in this situation.DEEMAN223344 wrote:
Like, at all, because obviously I'm going to know you mean the users after such a vague sentence, right?
It's far easier for the threads to be merged instead, copying and pasting is far more tedious for everyone involved when we could just have the option to merge the threads instead.DEEMAN223344 wrote:The USER copies and pastes. You guys made it a sticky and lock it so we can get to it.
As much as it sounds like it'd work, it wouldn't - it's too time-consuming for anyone to be bothered with. The real solution is merging the topics, because it's instantaneous.
If Wefight (or any other of those topics) would be still one topic; how many posts/pages do you usually scroll/click back, to read back what happened before in that topic? Before the beginning of the new topic? (so to the old topic?)
In that case; What does it matter if there are two topics, and what does it matter if the old topic is in another subforum? Let a Mod put a link to the last post of the old topic, in the first post of the new topic. Instead of clicking "previous page" click the link to the old topic, and you are where you want to be.
(Why are some guys making it all so difficult?
)

Not sure what you mean with that. If you're talking about how many posts you can scroll back at the moment you're posting (the preview window) then it doesn't make any difference. Those are only a few; not an entire topic with thousands of post.DEEMAN223344 wrote:Then there's the point where the going back pages to get to the post preview to copy, paste, and repost is even MORE tedious.
Again you didn't answer my question: How many posts you scroll back?

IMA GET YOU FOR IT BLAH *insert other random rages here*Marinus wrote:Remember that we still can search for all your posts, what's wrong with it, (perhaps BB will help me) and then we can post it in another subforum, where Tyteen can not delete it.
That could work without being deleted by me, but news has come to me that I am not the boss.
wait, I never was

Hmmm......
Some interesting points made - regarding the problem of having old/new versions of the topics. Tyteen made the suggestion of a merge-mod, but I'm not willing to install modifications to the forum software (sorry!).
What about this very simple suggestion: For each thread under consideration:
1) Lock the thread in Old-Off-Topic, then Move it to New-Off-Topic.
2) Edit the first post of the new Off-Topic to include a link to the old thread.
3) Rename the old thread e.g. "Wefight (Old Posts)" and the new thread simply "Wefight". The (Old Posts) thread will be grouped at the end of the forum (because of their last post time, and the fact that they're locked).
Problem solved without any need for modifications, etc. I think?

2 ways to do it:Marinus wrote:True, but perhaps Tyteen can write some software to make it possible. However, who would bother about doing so much work for it.
1. On 3.studIo we have a 'Login as user' mod that lets us log in as that user and test out features (for support purpose). But this requires ABSOLUTE trust, and on my forum this mod is only available to Network Administrators (me, Blast!10, Dlcs18, Q).
2. Go into the database and change the user that posted the message. There are risks of data being messed up, and this requires MORE trust (since I will need to have access to the database) than ever.
I have asked Patrick to install a merge topic mod that merges topic, but it only pastes the new topic at the end of old topic, nothing else. We don't want to bother doing time-based merge at this time.
EDIT: Read Patrick's post. The merge mod works with a link, and does not require any modification to the forum files itself, only if you want to. It is just uploading a few files and you are done, and it benefits us all.
But well... this forum is yours. You have the final say.

There used to be an old OFF-TOPIC link called
"What forum members look like".
I wood love to see this one transferred to the
new & improved moderated-OFF-TOPIC,
( also, beecause I can't find itt! ; I think it should be stickied. )

We will consider it.
I, and I guess the other people too, would like to hear/read from Nobody himself, what it was intended too. Also, if Nobody gave you permission to speak on behalf of him, we would like to hear that from him first.Deeman wrote: the new one was intended to ....
And what you are suggesting seems even more illogical to me because there would chronologic be 3 separate parts:
1. Old topic until new subforum was created
2. New topic.
3. Old topic in future.
While doing it as Patrick says only makes 2 parts:
1. Old topic
2. New topic.
Virtlands, it may be a good idea to make it sticky as you say, but to move it would cause the same problem as moving the music topic:
There's also a new similar topic: http://www.pcpuzzle.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21795 Making a link in the first post of that topic would make it easier to find the old topic.Patrick wrote:2) Only topics with posts from current active participants of the New Off-Topic section (given that some old users might not be happy with having their old IPs/E-mails etc visible to mods). If there is just a couple of posts from other users, these can be deleted before moving.
