WA3E wops - A few questions

Post by LexieTheFox » Fri Apr 11, 2014 9:04 pm

I have a few questions about the possibilities involving some of the wops.

Can ZBots (Retro) be NPCs themselves?

Can UFOs shoot spells other than POW?

What does Data4 on UFOs do?

If anyone could awnser these, I'd be grateful.

Well, the first one, I have no idea.

The second one, I kind of doubt, but it would be neat...
I all so thought about how burst flowers with different magic would be.

The third one - well, data four is the set track option for battlebots.

No more nor less, it's for whether or not the 'ufo' stays on its course(which is all floor tiles[not sure about other tiles] with the same texture).

I hope this helps a bit.

I've actually played with this in an adventure that won't be seen until I finish Epsilonia.
A rather...
interesting adventure.

I think that all of my inspirational levels are intriguing; the non-inspirational levels are fine, but usually don't seem to have the same affect on me. :P

As for UFO Data4, if you set it to 1 then the UFO will only venture onto tiles with a specific texture. This texture matches the one the UFO was initially placed on.
But, you could modelswap Z-bots with signs or certain NPCs if you want.

Also, if fireflowers have Data0 being a magic type, could other shooting entities not have it too?

Wonderman has a point on both topics.

Former; I haven't tried that yet.. Thanks for the idea.

Latter; What if the UFO's data0 is either not programmed for the magic type, or is programmed to be used for something else entirely?

Then it probably can't be made.

For talking Low-Influence Devices/Classic Z-Bots/whatever you want to call them, you could try modelswapping it with the Master class. They don't have any special animations so you should be fine. It will occasionally utter Z-Bot phrases though.
As for UFOs, Data4 controls the track, meaning they will stay bound to the tile texture they first started on.
I don't think it's possible to change the magic they shoot, as Data0 seems to control their starting direction. However, Data2 and Data3 are unused. Perhaps they control something?

EDIT: I just noticed that both UFOs and Zapbots have -1 as their Data9, and they are the only items to have a track option. I wonder..

They could, but I don't think it's likely - FireFlowers in WA1 were originally going to have two variants from the get-go, which ended up unimplemented until MoFI, whereas UFOs and such probably weren't designed with that in mind.

Turns out I was right! Data9 controls what tile to follow for track-following things. More to come.

EDIT: Actually, not more to come. It's difficult to explain in words, so I might make a lab adventure instead. Well actually, I guess that still means there will be more to come.
DUOEDIT: There's a track setting for Zipbots as well it appears.

I don't know why, but when I added MovementSpeed to a turtle, it wasn't affected. I'm guessing this option is only for NPC movements? Does anyone know if turtles have speed as a Datax?

MovementSpeed is the NPC-specific setting, yes. I'm not sure if it'll work for Turtles, but Data2 is used for the Speed setting for Spikeyballs and Chompers.

Nope, data2 doesn't do anything.
