Help-Help-Help!!!!!!!

Post by lgrapes » Fri Jul 16, 2004 9:56 pm

I have no idea what has happened but all of a sudden I cannot get the new levels to download properly????????

I have done everything I usually do...I rechecked to make I was not missing a step...

The new files are all zipped so I have been unzipping them but they are not in the custom folder when I go to play them...Here is the weird thing when I do a file search they are there but not when I start the game??????

Any ideas as to what in "G's" name could have happened???????

Lori

PS: the levels I have tried to open are the Avalanches, Theo, Snowday,
and Qookie's rainbow garden....

Sorry for a dumb question, but is it possible that they are going into the CustomModels or CustomHouses directories, or possibly a CustomLevels subdirectory in the CustomLevels directory?

WHAAAAAA!!!! I don't know...I looked in the other directories and they are not there...It is all very perplexing????

I am so confused.

I know I am not as computer savvy as some of you but, I have not had this problem before. It was not happening yesturday...and I have not changed or deleted anything accidentally.

Boo-Hoo...

When you search for them do they have the an extension on them? .LV5 or .LEV?
Do you see any of the custom levels or just not the ones you downloaded recently.

Aha! I was wondering around through the levels that I did not have a problem with and lo-and-behold the ones with the extension .LV5 are the ones that are causing me trouble. I don't quite understand because I have been downloading them all along without a hitch????

Did I do something wrong or should I be downloading them somewhere else??? I am sooooo confused???????

I don't understand this bit. Custom levels aren't in zipped folders so howcome yours are? It sounds very strange.

If the ones with the extensions are causing the problem I wonder if it's related to a problem that was developing for people when they downloaded custom content. The default option for windows is to not show the extension for file types that it recognizes. If that is what is happening here then if you try to rename the file I believe that the extension will show. Otherwise you can turn off that option. If this is the problem the a file which appears in your file listing as level.lv5 may actually be named level.lv5.lv5 and would be unrecognizable to wonderland. I have probably made this all much more confusing sounding than it is. If this seems in any way related to the problem you are having, I'll be happy to try to be more coherent about this.

Steve

PLEASE NOTE!

I was wrong above, renaming a file will not show the extension. The only way to see the actual extension, if Windows recognizes the file type is to turn that option off. Sorry if I have misled anyone
