Help....

Post by Toon Dog »

I loaded a level with a model I found on the internet, it WAS A 3DS file, but the error was:

--------
ERROR
--------
Couldn't load Mesh/custommodels/model1
Press Esc to exit.

Or something like that. :? :?:

Since it says couldn't load Mesh, I think the model you downloaded was too advanced for RTW
What was the name of the folder you put the model in?

You might just have to resize it.

Did you put the model in a folder? It doesn't look like you did from the error message as it just says custommodels/model1 and not a folder name.

If you did put it in a folder but it still isn't working, post it on here and I'll have a look at it.

Right, there are several things wrong here.

First, they weren't in a folder, just loose inside the zip file.
Second, they aren't 3ds files but Lightwave models, they won't work in RTW. Even I can't open them in AC3D, I think you would need to have Lightwave to do anything with them.
Third, the names of the jpgs are far too long for the game to handle, they can't be more than 8 characters long.
Fourth, the jpgs aren't in the right format, eg they are 640x480 instead of say 256x256 (this only matters for people with fussy graphics cards, like me).

In short, they are no good for Wonderland. Even if you do have Lightwave and can open them in that, you would need to export them as 3ds files to use them in the game.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. :(

That means the LW in the LWS and LWO extensions must be a short for Lightwave, but I don't know what the other letters mean. :|

Two random guesses:
LWO LightWave Optical
LWO LightWave Optional
Clueless on LWS though.

I think they stand for Lightwave Object (the model) and Lightwave Shader (the colour/texture).
