Major Problem

I had been playing RTW on my laptop and after a couple of worlds it suddenly would freeze and only Ctrl-Alt-Del would let me end the program and get back to my desktop. I removed it from my laptop.

I have never had a problem with it on my desktop - an Emachine running XP, until today. Suddenly, in World 3, the haunted one, on the very last level, it suddenly freezes at the very end but nothing will get me out of it other than pulling the plug on the machine. I completed the game successfully but have been going back to get a perfect score and it froze twice, just as Stinky is heading toward the exit at the very end.

Any ideas? I love the game but am afraid to try it again.

I had the same problem with RTWD W3L3. It freezes when I exit. I think it doesn't play right on your system. I downloaded RTWD again and it played properly. What system do you have?

BTW, Welcome to Wonderland!

BTW2, Try with custom levels ("LV5" for Return Deluxe, "LEV" for Classic Return)

Midnight Synergy (Patrick) has been working on this problem for a while.
Near the bottom of page 3 in the above thread is the first of the updates (fixes) that were posted.

Just yesterday he made a new post which stated :
Next order of business will be the "official" update for RTW Deluxe, version 2.06. This will include all bug fixes so far (including the fatal bug fix which seems to have been solved as of 2.04) as well as the fix to keep the penta/star option permanent.

I myself have not had a problem since I installed the first update.

Thanks for the link to the discussion - was great to know I'm not alone! My machine is less than a year old, AMD, 512 mb ram, NVIDIA flat screen. I don't get any jerkiness at all. When it froze today, it was after I had been playing awhile and I do close all the other programs when I play. The level was that last one in World 3 and it seems that many people have had the problem with that level so it could be something to do with it.

I'm encouraged that there's an update to the program coming out and think I'll wait for that and not download any of the patches.
