A Question For Midnight Synergy

Post by mqdar »

MS, I have been wondering:
Do you know how the music for WA was created?

If you mean with what type of equipment, I don't know for sure.

Jonne Valtone (aka Purple Motion) is our musician. I checked his website, but it lists no further info.

I know that in the older Wonderland games the music had the .mod extension, so I could open the tracks up with Impulse Tracker. In Wonderland Adventures, they're in compiled format, aren't they? Is that because they... oh wait, how would you know?

Dlcs18, I have no problem playing these on their own. I use a program called, "All Sound Editor XP".
I just want to be able to open these .ogg files like you would in IT, seeing the actual musical code.

You're correct, the music for the original trilogy are in mod format, which keeps the filesize small (and gives the games a classic retro game sound). The new games with their wider scope and feel have a soundtrack that is simply recorded in mp3 or ogg - a variety of equipment was used to make the music, I just don't know what. Could even be "live" instruments - although in this case I don't think there are any.

Oh. :(
I wish I could see things like 'samples' and use them.

Thankyou for explaining though. :)
