Midnight Synergy update...

Post by Robbie »

Hey Pat,

You've been quiet for a while now. What project/s are you guys working on at the moment? Or is this absence an extension of your holiday?

Just curious.
Robbie :D

... and before anyone asks, no I'm not bored. (I should be so lucky to have that much free time  )
... or impatient (I have too much havok planned to wreck with the current version  )

Any chance we'll actually get to see what you've planned sometime soon?

Not much new to say right now. We'll probably do an e-mail to the mailing list soon, with the next "official" RTWD update (likely this will be 2.05, i.e. without the changes to the custommodel directory that I mentioned as a possibility - I'm still sitting on the fence regarding that change). There's also going to be another "official" level competition!!! More info on that soon.

The next big project? Way (way!) to early to tell. There's a couple of ideas in early prototype and design stages, but nothing definite. My lips are sealed.

So Pat, you want some ideas... (Pat shakes his head & runs away)... Pat? Pat? Hmmn, wonder where he went in such a hurry...

Can we have a preview? Like you did in the lead up to RTWD? A mystery.. that's it :D No? Oh well...

Looking forward to your next comp. Soon? (asking for trouble I know)

Just on the custom model directory thing I had an idea - whether it's practical from a programming perspective hasn't detered us in the past
Instead of indicating a specific directory for all models or the single main directory, how about being able to allocate a specific file from any directory on a model by model basis.
for example, you could allocate model A being file r from directory s, model B being file t from directory u and so on...

Just a thought for the day.

I'd love to give you all a little preview, but there's really nothing to show. It's mostly R&D stuff (as opposed to R&R) - I'm thinking about possibly increasing online connectivity for players in some future game (not necessarily the next one), so I'm looking at potential technical and security issues for that. Not very exciting!

It'll be a while still. :(

The competition, however, won't be too much longer. :D

(As for game ideas, I'd always love to hear what people would want to play.)
