MOFI- Random Map Appearances

All of a sudden, pieces of the Fire Island Map showed up out of nowhere. After talking to the guys at the beach (this is during chapter 9) that were frozen, I got a few stars. Then, I beat Memory Aid. I was going back to kaboom village when two map pieces appeared out of nowhere! The first was at the transporter shortcut(where the crashed ship is), the second was in the temple. Could some one explain this.

The maps are scattered all over Fire Island. Some were found (by the merchants), others were not.
These maps are helpful for you to find your way around Fire Island.

Maybe you found them because you got to the area that the map shows. I found one at the pirate camp showing that area and the acid swamps.
