New Level (Expert) - Thrick or Threat!

Post by LEMARQUIS » Sat Oct 31, 2009 11:09 am

Hi Everyone,

Muzozavr and I spent the last month constructing this special haunted level for Halloween...

We'd like to give many thanks to Popo for her help with the haunted castle model... Popo you're the best! :)

Please note that this level is very feasible once you know how to solve it! There's is a way to solve it every single time without any luck. Break it down section by section until you complete the game, that's the way to do it :)

On a personal note, I would like to thank Muzozavr for his hard work and amazing creativity on the puzzles... Very nice working with you!!!
Thanks & great team work!

Good luck to all & Happy Halloween!

Note: The models are very big but look amazing! Please make sure you download everything (The next 4 posts) or you'll miss the magical feeling of Halloween!!!

Actually you can use WonderStorage to upload big models.

Sounds fun! Gotta play this now.

Halloween is coming... And they're going to get you...

First of all, I want to say this: I'm honestly amazed by the models and texture that LeMarquis came up with. They're unbelievable.

Second, there're A LOT of different "thricks" in this level, some of them by me, some of them by LeMarquis.

One puzzle in particular is an attempt to reintroduce a certain concept of mine that I've never been able to get right the first time -- thanks to the sharp mind of LeMarquis the mistakes have been (hopefully) ironed out and you WILL need to figure it out "properly".

I also love the little "retouches" LeMarquis added to some of my puzzles -- I only wish I was able to do that with the puzzles of LeMarquis. Either I lack the talent of "refining" or his puzzles are so good they don't need any!

Halloween is coming... And they're going to get you...
Rest in peace, Kym. I hardly knew ya.
Rest in peace, Marinus. A bright star, you were ahead of me on my own tracks of thought. I miss you.

I've downloaded this without any hope of being able to solve it.

But I just had to see the models and texture. What a visual treat! You have to press Alt x and 9 to zoom out and see the whole thing. That haunted mansion and car are amazing. 8) :D 8)

Thanks for all your hard work on this. I will try to work it out, but with you two fiends collaborating there isn't much chance!

True that.

There's actually one section that LeMarquis had to show me the solution to it (so that I'd be able to build the next puzzle without fear of messing up the level) and one which I still don't know the solution to because I knew how to build my puzzle without messing up his work. LeMarquis is a real expert when it comes to fiendishly difficult puzzles, no doubt about it.

On the other hand, I had to send him the solution to a few of my puzzles as well.

EDIT:

I've got through the first bit and down to the pink TPs so far ...

No idea how to do the red button at the top which you're probably supposed to do before the pink TP bit.

Get back to you later ... probably next year

Okay, I was able to download the texture successfully, but the models won't show up in the level.

Does the level use any of the models? If so, I don't know what is wrong with my player...

Let alone these problems, I can't even complete the level.

I've made it to the blue sphere but hit the wall, I can't see a way to make it work for me.

The models do look great but that many slow my computer down to a crawl so I had to go into the editor and remove them. :(

I just pmed Popo.. Hopefully she can shrink the models a bit more to make them work better for everybody... we pushed the software to its limits, it's possible some users have few issues... Will keep you posted.

The way is still very long, but I got what you meant by "There's is a way to solve it every single time without any luck"

This is a wonderful looking level - congrats to everone involved! I can't say I got very far (you guys are way better at this game than me :))... but I love the atmosphere.

If the levelmakers agree, I'd like to showcase it in a future Midnight Post?

Wow, being featured in a Midnight Post? If LeMarquis agrees, I certainly do.

Sammy_Bro, you weren't in the team, so just saying "I agree" in this one case can sound a bit weird.

I agree. This is a beautiful work of art - in the models, texture and puzzles alike. Of course, I haven't gotten past the upper left yet, but I will (I think).

I, also, would like to know what goes on the red button.

Hi everyone,

Since Midnight Synergy seems interested in showcasing this level, please let Muzozavr or myself know if you manage to solve the entire level...

We might be able to release the names (or maybe the first 5 names?) of the ones who made it!

Obviously, no promises... it's really up to Midnight synergy but just in case... :)

Thank you & Good luck

Not there yet, but I really liked the bottom-puzzles: the cannon and left-bottom blue-TP and ghost.

In the cannon section, I found that one of the reflectors was not needed, nor those 2 break-tiles with coins on them.

The part that I am still struggling with is how to free Qookie. I suspect that it is based on some glitch, because just once, my shadow kicked the blue sphere into sheer-space. However, so far I could not repeat that.

OK, LeMarquis told me there should be no updates/revised versions, but seriously... how? How?

Get rid of one reflector to begin with (put it in the water or whatever): it's not necessary, but it makes more space, so it's easier. Then place one prism 3 places below the cannon, one prism to its left, a reflector to its right (2 or 3 places, both possible) and the backslash reflector above it in back row. Stand on the break-tile, and the moment the cannon shoots, push it right, then push the prism up and go down to avoid the second fire-ball.
