Let's see. If I start watching at the bottom of page 2 of this subforum and go up until top of page 1, I find this:

1. Paper Mario
2. Paper Mario quiz
3. Mario Kart series
4. Mario's journey
4,5. Super Technos Bros. (Not sure if Super Technos Bros has anything to do with Super Mario Bros. Therefore I called it 4,5.
5,5. Super Mario Bros online.
6,5. Hotel Mario Bros.
7,5. This topic: Super mario 64 realistic textures pack

Has anyone of you any idea, if this is about what Patrick wrote:2. Always look for an existing similar topic first, before creating a new topic.

We don't want to see individual topics about every movie you wish to discuss. A single "movie" discussion post is sufficient.

If you want to discuss a specific game, e.g. Super Mario 64, then a single thread for this game is fine. However, if you start posting about five or ten different games you wish to discuss, that is considered too much. Pick a game that you think many others will be interested in.

Thanks. Then I think I was right to count it only for a half. :)

There's an incredibly large difference between changing textures and rehauling the entire game itself.

There's lots of mario games. A topic for all of the mario games would be just like (except worse than) a topic for discussion of all the wonderland games.

Deeman, this may be confusing, but I hope the next sentence, and the picture make things clear to you:
A place to meet and discuss all things Wonderland!

This is a WHOLE DISCUSSION BOARD.
I was talking about just one topic serving that purpose.
It just isn't done, especially when that's what the whole forum is for.

If I understand right what you mean, then we agree.

Since this is the Wonderland forum it seems logical to me, that there can be a topic for each separate Wonderland level, but only one topic for Mario games.

However, on a Mario forum, it seems logical that there are tons of Mario topics, but only one Wonderland topic.

So, perhaps the people who want to have many Mario topics, have chosen the wrong forum. They should search for a forum where is this picture on top:

The off-topic section is for off-topic things. The description of the new and old ones are pretty much the same:
Chat, Jokes, other discussions. Anything that is not related to Wonderland.
There's more than one mario topic because there's a big difference between looking for a game rom and discussing a game.

There's a big difference between how the interior of a car looks like, how it feels driving with 100 kph through a short curve, and how the technical specifications of the engine are. There's also a big difference between a Fiat Panda, a Mercedes, and a Chevrolet. Should I make 3 new topics for each type of car now?

I agree with Marinus.

There should simply be 1 Mario (or other subjects) topic called "Mario Bros. Series Discussion" which could contain post talking about one game, textures of another, cheats for this and that, etc.

Having one topic for the discussion of the series as opposed to anything else makes sense. Having that one topic for any related projects doesn't. How are you supposed to find anything in there that way?

If you ask me, there should be a General Discussion topic for Mario, and hacks get their own.

(DP blargh)

Also, upcoming games should get their own topic for discussion and the like. That way people can share information without having to sort through more pages of unrelated stuff.

Qloof (and the others) I'm not quite sure what a hack means. Let's say, if someone changes RTW, so that Stinky and co have the ability to drive a bike, so they can move faster then a rolling boulder, and as fast as a cannon's firebullet, or if they give Stinky rubber boots, so the electro tiles would not harm him, then we can call it a hack?

In that case perhaps it's to be called a home made project, as Patrick mentioned in rule #1.

About your next post: I guess upcoming games are new games? And do you mean a new version of the same sort of game (for example WA, WA2, WA3...) or a completely different game?

I think in either case it depends on how popular and busy a topic is. If a topic is very popular and there is posted much about one subject, then talking about a second subject can disturb the first conversation, which is annoying. Then making a new topic about the second subject would be good.

However if there are only a few posts about one subject in a topic, and then the topic sinks down to the bottom of the page, or page 2, then it doesn't make sense to make a new topic for each thing. And it seems to me that's what happens here.

Flying Boy, it seems to me that you took my post you quoted, out of its context. If you read Deeman's post I was responding to, and my next post where I explained more, then you can see that I did not say that there shouldn't be non-Wonderland topics. All I was trying to say is, that you can not count Wonderland and Mario as equal, because this is a Wonderland forum.

As for what you said about rules: Exactly. Therefore I quoted a part of those rules here. Did you read it?

In terms of gaming, yes, that's pretty much what it means - a hack is a modification of the game's coding or artwork.

I mean a new version of the same sort. For instance, whenever there is a new Wonderland game we have a new discussion topic for it, and on another forum I frequent when there's a new game announced it gets its own discussion topic.

Yeah, this is true. I think there should be one central discussion topic for the series itself, cheats, etc. and games that have already been released, whereas ones coming out later have their own topic to prevent misinformation.

I'm sure that doesn't apply to the Off-topic forum(s), otherwise MS would have deleted topics that didn't have a connection to Wonderland.

Flying Boy, that's ok. :)

BB, may I say to you about the same as I said to Flying Boy in my earlier post: Perhaps it's better if you first read everything before taking one sentence out of its context. :)

Then why did you post that picture and the text? Because to me that doesn't mean anything with what you were saying (if it doesn't apply to the off-topic forum which it can't).

BB, that picture and text was meant in the first place not for you but for Deeman, and it seemed to me that he understood why I did that. So actually it is not your concern.

Second, I did not write that sentence as your post suggested (Marinus wrote) but I quoted it. I think it was Patrick who wrote it.

And third, that sentence does not say that there may be no other things discussed then Wonderland things, which is what you seem to suggest.

However, although it's actually not your concern, in general I would like to have things be clear for everyone. With quoting the text and picture, I wanted to say nothing less or more, then that this is not a Mario forum, not even a general games forum, but a Wonderland forum, and that therefore counting Mario topics equal with Wonderland topics, or comparing Mario topics with Wonderland topics ("A topic for all of the mario games would be just like (except worse than) a topic for discussion of all the wonderland games.") doesn't make any sense at all here, as I said before.

Just in case you are going to ask me now: "Then why didn't you just say that, instead of quoting the sentence and the picture?" Well, that's because I like to say things at my own way. Sometimes I like to make things clear by a picture, sometimes by a comparison/metaphor, sometimes by an example, and sometimes by a straight forward explanation. That also depends on, who I'm talking to, and when I'm talking to someone else, I don't always think about if it will be clear to you.
