MOPI | Your Best Adventure | Need Level Designers!

Post by jdl » Fri Apr 06, 2012 12:12 pm

This topic is for anyone who wants to join the MOPI level designer team.

If you would like to try and join, please do the following:
Make a very detailed adventure. It can be about anything and can have anything you want in it, with any theme (do not make a MOPI-themed adventure right away, I want to see what you can make on your own). There has to be a puzzle of some sort in the adventure, and it doesn't matter if it's easy or hard. This will be to test your designing skills. Please post the adventures in this topic (don't PM them to me please!). You can take as much time as you need to make the adventure, but just give some sort of notice that you're making one first! The levels you post here probably won't be used in MOPI if you're chosen, so please keep that in mind.

If you would like an example of what kind of detail I'm going for, take a look at Qloof's Great Revival 2012 level.

The chosen designers will be told to make an adventure using certain textures, objects, difficulties, etc when they are needed. Your names will be in the credits of the adventure as well.

I hope we can get some good levels!

EDIT: Current list of designers:

I would love to help, but I don't think I could EVER match Qloof's scenery. Is my vine in "Back To My Roots..." good enough?

Are you talking about the vine or Qloof's scenery?

I don't really suggest submitting this one as your level. The vines are really cool, and the scenery is good too, but the dialog isn't so well. This is more of a lengthy-HUB-type of a level. I'm looking for serious dialog, and an adventure with maybe 2 levels at the most (there could be more if it's a really complex and hard level, e.g. the levels could be different parts of a building where you have to find keys or something, like the Kreepy Keep in WA1).

No MOFI elements, since it will be for the WA Editor only.
It can be action and puzzle. Anything you can think of! :D

Yeah, I know that.
I'll see if I can make something small and puzzly!

But the Lake is a hard one. ITs a newly posted one, I wish I could help, Truley. I only have short ideas for a Puzzle in my Mind :
Fire Flowers,
Alt Bridges (Rare That I use this type!)
POP Buttons,
and sometimes Timer Buttons.
This sounds like a very fun Project, But if you DO However Consider using me, Please PM Me. I Would love to help if I Can in any way!

Well, the puzzles don't have to be long, they can be short if you want. As long as it has decent puzzle(s) and scenery, you're good to go. If you want you can make an adventure and post it in here and I'll see what you have for me! :D Who knows, it might be used in-game.

Ok, So Should I Go See The Revival of 2012 level Qloof Made? CAuse SOmething tells me its Highly Detailed. If Not (As I think I already Have the Idea) Can You tell me if this Sort of Setup for a Level is alright? =
Game
WA:MOFI
Leveltex
Redcave_FIX (I use Fixed Textures to make Levels. But yo ucan edit it to use Normal Redcave, I just can't use the Normal one, only difference is the Ice has holes in it)
Watertex
MOFI Default (Already has Lava in it! :3)
Setting
Volcano Insides (It seems like it with RedCave)
Water Settings
Glow? = No
Transparent? = No.
Is Lava? = Yes
Uses Metatile Lava? = Yes.
Objects
POW Charger
Chompers
Fire Flowers
Mini-Volcano
Rope-Bridge
Possibly a Kaboom!
Possibly POP Charger If POP Puzzles come to mind.
Sorry if this is sorta.. Well Tech-Like. I have a Organized way of making Adventures, I just need to make sure I get everything right before I end up making something completly wrong and out of Place.
Its like I make the Adventure a Grass land.
In the game,
*Enters Volcano Chamber*
*Appears in Grassland*
Wtf?

To get an idea of something I'd like to see, yes, check out Qloof's level.

You seem to have misunderstood what I meant, MOPI is an adventure to be played only in the WA Editor, so no MOFI objects at all. For your test adventure (to see whether or not I'd like you to be a designer), you can use any texture you like (just be sure to provide a download link to it!), but if I choose you, I'll provide the textures for the assignments I give you.

That Was Interesting.
I have to Confess, thats the First Time I ever bothered to do a Adventure without cheating.
And I Did it too!
I reached the Peak of the Mountain! And I think I get what you mean by Scenery.
Perfectly Placed Trees?
Ponds that arn't square shaped, they use the Height Editors..
Ducks in Ponds,
Higher by Higher Block Heights...
I Think I Have a Just of it. I'm gonna go try my Luck Now!

Ok, My Submission for the Project is posted. Its called "The Meadow" ITs a BIT Inspired from Qloofs level. (Theres a Mountain Peak at which you get the star at, But thats about it) I tried my Best with the Scenery, in my eyes It looks really Beutiful. (I even Experimented with Floor and Wall Heights)
Go Check it out, Tell me what ya Think!

Hehe, don't worry about it, I do that all the time since nobody ever seems to reply to any of my stuff. :P

--

Your adventure was good, however there were just too many mistakes. The way you can see the water through the corners of some tiles (like the area where you get the star) makes it look really weird, and there were some pointless things in the adventure (such as an orange button and invisible white glove chargers in the first area. If they actually do something though tell me).
At least you tried though, and it was fun playing it! :D

Heres what everything was for.
The Water Tiles are a Oversight. My Fault really, I was a bit Lazy. :/
The White Glove charges are part of the adventure. Its Like after your Magic is used, You power Down to NULL. Cool huh?
Orange Button = Oversight as well. The YEllow gates were originally going to ethier BE The Orange Gates or would have been after them. (MOST LIKLEY If I include orange in a update the Water Tiles will be fixed, and the Green gates will be gone, replaced by yellow ones)

I Might try again, Although If I do It'll ethier by a Remake of that adventure, a New one, or just a short 1 leveler, with EVERYTHING Checked to make sure nothing is too pointless. And If I Have the White Chargers, They will be Visible. (Unless you use Blink. then they cover the spot where you blink to.)

Well, I was going for 1 level per person to avoid having loads of levels to go through, but I suppose I can make an exception for you if you want to try again. :)

Now THIS is an adventure, it took me awhile to solve! (I kept doing everything wrong  ) The scenery isn't bad either, I like how you scaled the walls.

You've made it in yot, congrats! :D
As soon as I need some levels, I will PM you with all of the info and textures to use, etc.
But for now, do I have your permission to use your level in MOPI if I need it?

No problemo! But can you remove the hint about the turtle please?
It's a bit too early for hints just now.
