New Level: Hall of Fame

Post by yot yot5 » Fri Oct 12, 2012 1:46 pm

It's been a while, eh?

This level should be very familiar to Amnon, because I asked him to test an earlier version of it. Thank you, Amnon!

And that bonus coin? It is possible. Bloody difficult, but perfectly possible.

OK, I've solved the puzzle (I laughed at the "another path" one) and worked out how to use the cannons to keep the timers perpetually pressed (if you exit the "simple" way you don't need to do that -- don't think you can grab the bonus coin in time then, though)

... but I exited without the bonus coin. :(

I have managed to get it once in a practice run -- but it was the first thing I did, and if you do it "immediately" you can't do the rest of the puzzle "properly" afterwards. Or so I think.

There's also a jump that puts you right near the z-bot without having to fill the water near the exit. You can actually get the wooden box outside of that room and play around with it, but there's no real use for it, since you *need* to destroy it to start the timers. But if there was another bonus coin behind the water somewhere in the level, it would be possible to take it.
Rest in peace, Kym. I hardly knew ya.
Rest in peace, Marinus. A bright star, you were ahead of me on my own tracks of thought. I miss you.

Alternate solution again. Perfect.

I'm sick of fixing things, so just play around with the level. :)

Actually it's a lot harder than just doing things the "normal" way, so no problems here.

Hi Yot Yot
It's great to see you back in the 'guild'. I had a lot of fun to work out the jumps and the lines of fire in your new level. Exciting puzzles! :D
And thank you so much for building this monument for me. It's my very first, and I'm totally proud. (And really happy that it isn't 'in memoriam'... )

Actually, that secret jump you found was MEANT to be the normal way, and you used the first crate to help get the cannons in position. Even now, I can't find any way to get the cannons in place without the help of that crate. How did you do it?

Familiar - but not the same at all. Great level, thanks!

Yes, you can!

The best way to play is to try taking the bonus coin first. I probably get it now once every 5 tries, then do the rest - the rest is slightly longer this way, but quite possible!

I do remember that "secret" jump from the old version I tested, but I didn't use it this time. Also, I can't see why a box would be needed to help get the cannons in position - they can move quite nicely without it.

OK, I did the bonus coin "at the start" like Amnon says (figured out how to manipulate the reflector for this) but took way too long to do all the rest and haven't improved my score. So, no gold star for me due to a game glitch. :(

I may try again later, but for now, I've done it!

Anyway, great level. I am still not sure what did you want to do with the box, but it's great the way it is. (The secret jump would *force* you to collect the bonus coin at the end, which I think is a bit too hard for most people)

EDIT: I think I've figured out what you wanted to use the box for:
Is it for the "another path" puzzle to fill the water? Well, guess what -- if you take a longer jump you can hop directly to the coin.

Don't I hate this glitch!

This is why I'm always careful never to exit without all bonus coins, but then in some levels you can fall into an exit without knowing
