[WonderArchive] - Project for archiving all WA Versions (Check it out)

Post by nasko222 » Sun Apr 24, 2022 5:59 pm

I came to the idea of archiving every Wonderland game old versions, just for fun. I know there are DEV Builds and Betas and I actually have some of them, But I am curious if we can get them all. Here's the info I have.

Update: I am no longer updating the list here, Instead check the spreadsheet - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... ISLVBVG0AS

There was no Wonderland Adventures Beta? Well, i guess it explains how broken the game is. That doesn't mean it's a bad game though. And i know for a fact that there was a beta version of WSW.

There are two reasons why i know that there was a WSW beta version. The first is that the credits list of WSW shows that there were ten level designers and eleven beta testers. The second is because it is mentioned here. viewtopic.php?f=15&t=2798&p=25959&hilit ... ion#p25959

I can't give any of them out though for obvious reasons. Besides, they were locked to each tester's specific PC hardware and are now expired anyway.
What I do have for you are two videos I recorded during beta testing for POTZ:

What I do have for you are two videos I recorded during beta testing for POTZ:
The lockers can easily be removed, but besides that, If you can't give them, Could you at least run a diff check (I can explain how if you agree) So I can know the differences between them and POTZ 1.00.

All I know myself was that the final level was originally titled "Escape Plan", the Spy-Eye was not allowed on Uo, and the music on Uo was changed twice. I also heard that "Escape from Jaava" was not in Beta 1.

There might be legal obstacles to that, but I'm not a lawyer. Anyways, like i posted, there have been many versions of Stinky and Loof in Wonderland. I'm not sure if that interests you, though.

Sure, I can try. I'll need an explanation of how to do that though.

If it was a fully legal NDA, then yes, it would still be binding, however...

On the forums themselves, go to Patrick's Post seeking testers for WA 3. You'll find that he asked the testers to NEVER release the beta(s) they were given.

So while it's not a real NDA, Patrick and these people have had trust in one another for close to, if not over 10 years now. I heavily doubt someone will throw that away.

At the time of writing, the archive group is pending a response from Patrick for all the W.A 1, 2, and 3 Betas that weren't publicly released.

Update: Patrick released the betas from NDA, and we got MOFI Beta1 and both WA3 betas archived from JDL

with that said, The archive signups are now open, If you want to enter wonderarchive, it is recommended that you have Discord account, and PM me here on the forums the following

Your discord username and tag (If you dont have, leave blank)

Your Name

Why you want to join the archive?

Do you agree to not distribute any archived media out of WonderArchive?

Which Midnight Synergy games have you purchased?

Could you help us with some of the missing entries?

With signing up, you agree to the following terms:

In WonderArchive you're going to see only versions that aren't possible to get by just buying the games from Midnight Synergy. These versions are most likely lost in time. Some of the versions have a Time/PC lock, and there will be patches with "skiplocker" to unlock them for you.

Editor versions were always publicly available on Midnight Synergy's website, so these will be presented in its installer form.

Full versions won't be shared, Instead we provide downgrade patches from the latest version, to the particular archived version. Downgrade patches are (probably) only compatible with Midnight Synergy's version of the games. (Not reseller ones)

Versions that can be found on the website of Midnight Synergy (like latest demo builds) also won't be shared here (With the exception of old demos or variant probs, which will be presented in installer form)

All the content thats archived in WonderArchive is owned by Midnight Synergy.

Just adding my two cents and confirming that the archivers have my blessing to post betas and other previous versions.

I can potentially do some digging to see if I can add stuff (I'm going to add the v.80 levels to the archive soon), but as those of you who have interacted with me in the past years know, I'm moving at a snails' pace these days. Expect the next post from me in 2-3 years haha!

Thanks for approving the project Patrick. :stinkyhappy:

I hope one day we will have all Wonderland games versions.

I still have weird questions, like. Did Wonderland v1.01, v1.02, v1.03, v1.05 , numbers like that existed?

Or about the music in RTW

Or about the private review copy in MOFI

But I wont bother you right now. I know you're a busy person! :D

And thanks for adding me! Have a great rest of the day

Has anyone ever seen Wonderland v1.00 Full or Demo. This is one of the most mysterious ones on the list. The only thing that proves it's existance is the changelog saying its initial release. The next update v1.04 is a "Demo only" update meaning v1.00 demo also existed?.... I was curious if anyone remembers/has memories of seeing/playing Wonderland v1.00 It's the first ever release of a wonderland game, its iconic :stinkyhappy:
