New Level - Into The Fire

Post by Gogu »

Hello, it's my first time on here!

Here is something I came up with while messing around with the editor! I spent a few good hours polishing it and it is 100% doable in 10 minutes with all coins and bonus collected. The file name is 05 because it's part of my custom level set. If you can find ways to break or bypass my level then feedback would be appreciated, but that shouldn't be the case. Hope you enjoy!

Edit: With the help of kind stranger in the comments, I was able to make the level even trickier and 100% foolproof! Now there should be no way to break or bypass it and I'd love if someone proved me wrong.

It is certainly doable in less than 8 minutes. Thanks and welcome.

The only bypass I found was because it is not strictly necessary to take all coins to come out with gold, only the bonus coins, so by avoiding to take one coin, the whole timer maze can be avoided, making the level very easy.

One comment though, the initial travelator trip takes too long for the game to start, and with so much work to do ahead, it is unpleasant to have to wait idly just to start the level. Sometimes such beginnings can be a part of a puzzle, but not here.

Thank you for taking the time to play it.
I'm trying to figure out how you were able to skip the timed maze final section.. I specifically placed rainbow coins so that the rainbow gate opens, allowing Loof to proceed into the timed maze.. it baffles me how you were able to get to the exit. It seems I've been tricked by my own level! But I'm sure this has an easy fix.

As for the travel thing at the start yeah I'm sorry for that, I was messing around and it's how my idea came to life.

Well, I could not skip the timer maze if I wanted to take all the coins,
but if I just avoid taking the one coin of no-return (2 places to the right of the red timer), I can just have everyone jump onto the transporters and leave.

To fix, either place an exit gate on the exit-transporter (or the exits themselves), or change that coin into a bonus coin, so those who exit without it won't have gold.

I just checked again and verified that it is possible to exit this level without taking any coin whatsoever.

I'm sorry I might be slow here.. How did you get everyone on the transporters? Was it a trampoline path? For the past 20 minutes I've been jumping on trampolines and still haven't figured it out. Could you tell me the exact path you took? I will tweak the level and post the new updated version with your help. Again, I am sorry, my mind was not prepared for this scenario.

From the right side of the ice on the second from top lane (out of the 4), jump Left, Right, then Up.

Thanks for saving my level, I'm grateful. That was obvious yet somehow I missed it.

I have uploaded the final clean version. It was a few clicks away from perfection so it's not too bad for my first level. I will have to be sharp and smart when creating something again.

I am afraid that it is still possible to exit without any coins:

Jump from the right end of the 3rd from top lane: Left, then Up.

Oh man! No worries, it's been fixed now. I appreciate you pointing that out. I made a few mistakes but I really felt like posting this level since I thought it's pretty cool.

With the extra 3 coins at the timer-maze exits, the exit-gate into the maze will not open...
Maybe there is a way to take them all before entering the maze, but I have not found it yet.

I think they should be bonus coins instead.

You're right. I took care of those coins. I will move the timed maze somewhere else so it's not possible to bypass it via trampoline.

I have modified some things and posted the final version. It's perfect and clean, all should be good from here. Please excuse my noob mistakes, I will be more careful when creating something again. Good thing it was easy to fix and thanks again for your help friend. Now it's a neat challenging level.

This is a completely new level and despite solving the previous one I have no clue how to make it - for one, I have not enough equipment (metal boxes and barrels) to fill the lava and waters as required to get all the coins.

I have given up on this - have you played it yourself?

Yes, I have tested and completed the level to make sure it can be done. There is a specific solution not as difficult as you might think. All water and lava holes can be filled. Keep going - I'm sure you can figure it out! If you'd like, I could give you a hint hopefully without throwing the level away for others.

OK, I see that way now.
The metal area is quite different than how I made it in the original level.
And I don't find it simple - I got there somehow by trial and error.

It will still take me a while to get it all in one go, but the principle is clear.

I just made it and had 2:12 minutes left.

What through me off was that this version was a completely different game from the one I played earlier.
Before, I never even considered that the timer puzzle was for all 4 Stinkers - I only had 3 there and the last one just jumped out. Also because of that, I could not have Peegue help Loof in the beginning of the metal-box puzzle, where their cooperation saved more metal boxes.

This version forced me to bring all 4 into the timer puzzle. I find no other way to exit.

Thanks!

Thanks for playing! I owe you for helping me correct the level. It's not easy and not too difficult - just time consuming. As for the metal box area, you can do it either with 1 Stinker or 2 cooperating, the choice is yours. If I want to create something truly difficult and nerve-wracking, it will take a lot of creativity, inspiration and brainpower. I am happy I was able to create this cool level, maybe I will try more, and I am glad you reached out to help me fix my mistakes.

I was hoping this would reach more people because I'm sure there are some Wonderland fans who would enjoy playing it but no matter, one sincere person like you is enough!

Fun fact: This level could be included in the base game. I felt like a Wonderland developer making this.. too bad I did not have this job 20 years ago.

20 years ago this was a very active place, with several new levels daily.
There is hardly anyone frequenting this game today.

Have you tried my latest level?
It is not a conventional one like yours and no one has commented on it yet...

In my first level, "Redeeming Light", I also made so many mistakes - it is playable, but I have learned a lot since. That was 20 years ago.

If you are going to make more levels, then you should give them proper names, not just "05", because others too have labelled their levels just with numbers and it became confusing, so you should use your name or some other alpha-numeric name for your levels to be uniquely identified.

Good Luck!

Yeah I figured there's not many people around anymore, but back then it must have been fun having an active Wonderland community. I realized many people name their levels 01, 02, 03 etc. so I will change that. I will check out your levels!

Nostalgia brought me here - 20 years ago, my father was playing this game for me and I couldn't beat the simplest level. Fun times!

Wow, a second generation... we had people passing away here, there was Shorty and then Marinus, we also had competitions on a theme.
Kiki was our king, sadly he disappeared many years ago with over a millenium of levels behind, but Mark was the real wizard and he still drops us a level from time to time, which is very worth playing.
