Wave plugin for AC3D

Post by popo » Wed Dec 14, 2005 4:51 pm

I've downloaded a plugin for AC3D that lets you put waveforms in objects. To make them, well,....wavy. You apply it to the vertices in your object and set some parameters and away you go.

I was playing with it this afternoon and ended up with something that I thought looked like an octopus's tentacle, so carried on and made an 'eggtopus' cos it's head looks like an egg.

I made the tentacles by extruding a cylinder numerically by 12, then tapering each set of vertices and snapping together the last lot. Then applied the wave tool.

Don't know what use it is but it looks nice.

There's a 'fur' one too that lets you grow grass or hair, but I haven't downloaded that yet, there's a problem with the web page.

This is an example of the fur plugin for AC3D which I've used to make some grass tiles.

This is quite short grass, but it could be 'grown' long enough to cover Stinky's head.

For this example I placed the dead spot 2 tiles back from the grass so that he could walk through it.

I hope you'll agree it really looks like he's up to his knees in the grass. I hope he doesn't get hay fever.

I like the look of that grass :D Can you make me some that goes to Stinky's waistline (whereever that is  )? Please :D :D :D

Will it be difficult to make several sizes of models? Something like Robbies floor models, but with the dead spot not in the grass - so it will be a matter of picking the desired size for different levels.

Your grass gave me a wicked idea  for a level and I might just get time to make a level this weekend

I'll be making several different ones, that's my plan. That was my first attempt at it so you'll have to be patient. :D

Those floor models were mine btw, not Robbies, although he might have made the first one. Sorry if I got that completely wrong Robbie.

If you PM me Mette with exactly what you're looking for I'll make that one first.

Update on the grass model.

It seems for some reason that I can't make the model more than 1x1 without the grass disappearing.

I can do it in AC3D and it looks fine, but when I export it to the game all that shows is the tile with no grass.

What I do seem to be able to do, however, is make a 1x1 tile, then duplicate it and place it next to the other one, and carry on like this until it's the right size, then export it to the game and the grass shows up.

I can't fathom out what's causing this to happen, whether it's something in the game itself or simply to do with the model. It's baffling.

I was hoping originally to be able to make odd shaped ones so it would look more natural, but that won't be possible if the only thing that shows is square.

Let me know what size you want in tiles across and down and I'll put it together for you.

Thanks Poops :D

It will be a little while though. My brain is completely warped by the platinum edition  and I don't know when I'll get back to my wicked level idea involving grass. I'll let you know

Thanks again,
Mette :D
