So don't download them.

Patrick put out the patch which allows you to play any level that has custom textures without the texture. You'll get the standard wood background. It might not look like the creator wanted, but the puzzle elements will be the same. Plus, you'll be able to see hidden walls when they might not have wanted you to.
I have broadband and it's not a problem to download the textures. But understand how some people might not want to if the connection is slow, if they don't have an unzipping program, or if they just don't feel like it.

Everyone likes wonderland for different reasons. Fortunately for you and your busy schedule, the patch is available.
Don't give up playing. I hope with the patch, the game remains a good experience for you.

Thanks for voicing your opinion Magstar - I am truly sorry you feel like this about the custom textures and the time it takes to download them

But ............... as a huge user of all the custom textures - I am probably the guilty party you are talking about
I really enjoy downloading and playing all the levels using custom textures, so for me it has never been a problem. I keep them all in the "Custom Texture" folder so most of the time I don't have to download them again anyway! I absolutely LOVE all the different custom textures that our extremely talented creative members design for us other less talented folk to use. To me, one of the best things about the Platinum Edition has been the custom texture feature. I know a lot of people don't care what a level looks like - and they are only interested in the puzzle - fair dues. But to me, the whole concept of designing a level is for it to look as creative and atmospheric as possible! I am also assuming, in fact I know, that most custom texture designers get a HUGE amount of satisfaction in creating the new textures, and I am sure they are thrilled when other members use them in their levels. I know I would be
I guess what I am tryng to say is that although I appreciate your opinion and the stress the custom textures give you, I will in fact be continuing to use them in my levels. I'm really sorry if this inconveniences you Magstar - I'll try and throw in a few normal levels too - how's that
Thanks for opening this thread Magstar! I hope other people join this discussion - it will be interesting to see what other members think. You could be in the majority so I hope people come forward and speak out about what they think about the custom textures
Take care

I love the custom textures and backgrounds! I think it gives such a lovely variety to the games. It is also a very creative outlet for the designers!
When the platinum revision first came out and level makers were just starting to make textures, I did find it annoying when the texture was not correct and the error shut down the game. Since then Patrick (Midnight Synergy) release the Platinum patch (v3.01) and that has fixed that problem (at least on my computer). You still know if you are missing a custom texture because the standard wood texture shows up but at least the game doesn't crash. Of course then you have the option to find the custom texture if you want.
For MAGSTAR24 - I bet you are not the only one frustrated by the amount of time it takes to download all the custom stuff. I was on dial-up until a couple months ago so I know how you feel. If you have the patch (v3.01) then all you have to is download the level. Another option is to make a note of the level you did not download the custom texture for and then once a month visit Mette's website and download her updated files for custom stuff or levels and then you replay the level in it's full glory. Yes it will be a big file and will take time to download but it is once a month and might work out better for you. Just a thought. I would feel sad for you if you just gave up on the custom levels!

Sorry Lillie I was not pointing the finger at anyone in particular, and yes I do love the custom textures and find them very appealing to the game, I may take Drushing's advice of downloading the textures once a month, that will ease the time factor for me.
Thanks for your feedback and carry on with your wonderful creations

I can't
not download custom textures!

It's so much fun to see what they all look like. I am so glad I have broadband, because I remember what it was like with dial-up!

And I guarantee, I would not download so much if I still had it.
The only problems I have with custom textures is when I forgot to unzip! Then I would get kicked out of the game. At least with the patch, I don't have any problems!

Will I ever be able to play again?
