New Level - Qookie's Whale

Post by Loirae » Thu Apr 06, 2006 8:49 am

I made a new year's Resolution to make at least a level a week. It's averaged out to be that. And that resolution means I'm already up to #50. So here it is. It's larger than I usually make them.

Some starting pointers:
There are four "rooms" you'll need to visit. You can do the rooms in almost any order, but certain orders will make it easier than others.

Also, If you are like me and hate working through a level only to die at each new place, I recommend working out each room and then decide which order will be easiest for you.

Signs along the way to give little pointers, but they may be a tiny it cryptic.

I hope you like it. Thanks for playing.

Fantastic level! You are right; it definitely makes a difference on the order. I figured each room out, then coordinated them to reach the finished product.

Congratulations on #50!! It was a toughie! Thanks!

Congratulations on your 50th !

You know how much time I've put into this - still having a freak out on the boating lake but I've got the rest sorted. Ace variety of tricks and treats.

Back to work tomorrow so will revisit this one real soon

Thanks bud and well done !

Kazza :) :)

I like the way this level looks!
I still haven't finished it, but I will come back to it :)
I noticed that you taught us the law of inertia with that barrel:

Here's a first hint about the order I prefer to do the rooms in:
If it helps, when I play it, I always do the rooms in this order: boulders, goo, pond, ghosts. in any case, you should probably do boulders before ghosts when you think you've got everything figured out and ready to solve.
I know this one is a stinker, so if you need hints about a certain part, let me know.

Very tricky and complicated level Loirae! This is going to take me weeks to solve, and I don't see how you only need one shot at the end :?

It's a very absobing puzzle, which I shall keep revisiting until I can do it!

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR 5OTH

I probably shold've changed the sign: You only need one shot at a time - in othrwords, don't let RedMan shoot two fireballs because the second one will hit you.

Sorry!

I'm willing to give spoilers or hints, but don't know at which point people need them.

Well, Bob, you're not alone.

Spoiler for the pond:
when you come in through the TP, you'll automatically go down. From there: RULUL
Push keg down onto trnasporter and get back on your transporter going: ULD
Push keg onto next transporter. Follow and push keg onto grass Use next transporter to go: DR.
Push keg onto next tranporter.
Get back on your transporter going: LURUL This pushes the keg.
Follow and use grass to push keg down. Follow again.
The keg should be above another transporter, Qookie should be 2 tiles from the blue TP. From here go: LULDLURD
Get on next transporter. Go: RDRULDL You should be to the left on the first transporter. Get on it and go: LURURDRD This take you next to the blue TP. Continue this circle with the two transporters until you've got both of them next to each other and directly left of the TP. When this happens, you should be on the transporter between the TP and the other Trans.
Walk left to the other one. then RDRDLU so you are below the TP. Use the grass to get on the other trans going up and around the top left island (ULULDRDR will bring you near the keg. Circle clockwise on the two transporters until on is next to the keg and other other is just below it. (You'll have 4 trans in a square). Get on the transporter below the keg and it will take you R then go URDL. From here you can push the keg onto a transporter to land beneath the blue TP.

From here you should be able to see the path to get below the keg and push it up.

Well Loirae, I finally finished your stinker level!! Wow, what an intense challenge for me! I had a hard time in each section and slowly worked my way through each one. I think I actually had the least trouble with the water ride! I will say I definitely earned my gold star on this one!! I am not sure if you intended it this way but ...
Major Spoiler:
I ended up using pinky cubes in the water above the yellow teleporter in the blue sphere room. Then I used another pinky and the plasma cube to control the spheres so I could get 2 of the spheres in the other water hole and have 2 spheres going over the timer to keep the light blue gate open. Still ended up blowing up my wooden box but that is ok because didn't need it. After I got the keg out from behind the light blue gates, I stopped the spheres from rolling. I ended up using them each separately to roll into the kegs placed by the metal boxes! I used the 3rd reflector on the last keg metal box combo! Probably a lot more work than was necessary but I just couldn't get the blue spheres where I needed them without some help!
Thanks for an awesome level and now please make an easy one!! :stinkyhappy:

Yup, that's alot of extra work, but if you had fun doing it, that's all that matters. :D It wasn't my intention for any items to leave the rooms other than the kegs and reflector (and maybe the plasma if it's in your way.) No problem having you post it. I just hope no one posts the HUGE hole spoiler that many have told me they've used....

Since you mentioned the blue spheres, I'll post a spoiler on that part now:
For ease, I'll number the spheres from left to right 1, 2, 3, 4.
push #3 down and right before the other spheres stop rolling. (one ball in the water)
Push #2 right. (two balls in the water, one going around)
Make sure you hit the timer if it looks like it's gong to run out, but just after the rolling ball makes the turn around the bottom, push the #1 right. They should be about 4-5 tiles apart for easiest playing. Too close and the gate still closes. Too far and it's really hard to get the keg in the water.
