New Level - Rainy Day

Post by SharonM » Wed Jan 28, 2004 12:07 am

Hi again,
This is a level my daughter came up with about a month ago. Just getting around to posting it, sorry. She says it's too easy, but I liked it and thought you might too! It's her first level and I think she did a good job. Let me know what you think!

Hi DG,
I had to laugh at your response. She loved it! She was worried that the level was too easy and didn't want me to post it, but I thought it was very good and showed style. She's a budding artist and not too sure of herself yet. One of the main reasons I got RTW as soon as it came out was because she'd be able to use the level editor to explore her creativity. What I like about it is that it is very open in possibilities while at the same time providing very real boundaries. Those are important too. She doesn't like reading because she is mildly dislexic (spelling?) so I try to find ways for her to enjoy herself as if she were in a story. Anyway, thanks. :D

What a good morning, to wake up to so many new levels! Too easy, huh? This, I think, is not a problem we need to worry about when posting new levels. We've got plenty of very tough levels and it's fun to play an easier one now and then. I've got two grandkids, 7 and 10, and they love this game but sometimes the harder levels are too much for them (and for me too!)

Of course, the more levels your daughter makes, the tougher they will probably get. Remember Eeyore's first levels, when she would warn us about how easy they were? (Not that they were, necessarily, but she seemed to think they were!) And here she is, one of our master level builders, and her levels have gotten more challenging all the time. For me, they are some of the very best on the exchange.

Please tell your daughter that her level is most appreciated and I hope she makes more. :)

Thank you Dianna. :) I read your message to her and she was very pleased. She says to tell you that she will make more. :D

To tell you the truth, I told her the same thing, but I guess it's more believable coming from someone other than MOM. She has come up with a variation on one of DiscGolfer's levels that I will post with his permission. I hope to finish my level for the comp today and send it to them so hopefully I will have a few of my own to post too. Can't wait!

SharonM,

I also enjoyed the level, your daughter did a great job. My main problem with making levels is I'm not very creative and definently not artistic (that's my husband's realm). I'm still amazed at how people can come up with all these different ideas!

Tell her to keep 'em coming!

Thanks Jen,
I'll tell her. She gone to bed now, but she'll be pleased. I put a variation of DiscGolfer's Gates level on his thread with his permission. That's one of her's too. I having real trouble with it though she says she can solve it easily. Poor old creaky Mom, .

As far as the creativity of the levels submitted here, I agree. I am constantly amazed and amused by them. I hope to see more from everyone myself.

That's cool majic1! I didn't know they could register separately. I thought it was one per game. I'll see if they would like to do it. I imagine they would. They are both so imaginative. I'll pass your compliments along to them, too. :) As for guessing who your children are, I don't think I can  I can understand your consternation at finding you had twins when you only expected one more  , I was afraid both times during my pregnancies that I had twins, they run on both sides of my husband's families and my families. Whew, I was relieved . Don't get me wrong, I think twins are great, just wasn't sure I could handle them! My children are just starting their teens; son 14, daughter 12. I still have a lot to get through! I'll be cheering when the end is in sight too ( probably crying too!). Anyway, thanks for the suggestion. It just never occured to me! :D

Your comment about "one per game" REALLY got me thinking! I think posting replies and submitting levels is okay for them - BUT, maybe entering the competition isn't. Now I think entering more than one entry per game really doesn't seem fair to me for some reason. Only one of my children has entered - after talking with them, they agreed - so the other won't be entering, and in future competitions, only one of us will enter. ME - ha ha ha ha! (Well, they DO know Mom's addicted!) I'm wondering what other Wonderlanders think about this.

Hi majic1,
I don't see anything wrong with it, but probably when Patrick gets back....he can tell us---did we buy Wonderland for personal use or for family personal use??? I know my brother played mine when he visited, and he wanted a copy and I told him not to be so cheap and buy it....he just growled  but then, he doesn't live with me.

Hi majic1 and eeyore31,
Looks like I opened a can of worms  I told my daughter that she could register, but not my son yet. Haven't had a chance. Rose is almost 13 so I don't thaink it will be a problem, but I don't know if there is a lower age limit. Will Patrick be back in time to give us some answers :?: As far as them entering, I need to wait and see.
eeyore31, I know what you mean. I've had several people want a copy, so I gave them the midnight synergy addy. Told them they weren't expensive, but if people pirate the games they might either go up in price or disappear altogether and I definately don't want that to happen. I'm having too much fun playing in Wonderland. I hope others adopt the same philosophy! :)

Yup!! My thoughts exactly. I made a few cute t-shirts with some of my favorite game shots on them (they are so cute) and I put the website address on them. :)

Me too! That's a really great idea! I've been trying to get some of my friends interested, but most of them are not into puzzles as much as I am. The shirts with the addy is ingenious! I like the way you think eeyore31! :D

I tried to make them small for on website, but it was going to take a lot of space. If you want to see them, I can email them to you if you want. I am eeyore@yellowbananas.com They were fun to make :D

I hope you all got the email ok, and could really see what they look like. It's really fun. My job allows me to wear t-shirts so I like to make some different ones.

Hello,

this is a bit of a gray area... I say go ahead and have your daugter register and submit her level.

And eeyore... I'd love to see the T-shirts, could you e-mail a pic to the "infos" address?

(oh and yes, since it was mentioned somewhere in this thread, please don't pass the full game to friends or other families - piracy really does hinder our ability to make more games. Remember that they'll have no qualm passing the game on to more people - after all they got it for "free" - and so on and so on)

Cheers!

Okay, thanks I'll let her register, my son too. They both love the games and especially the level editor. I think it gives them a sense of control!

Yes, the piracy only costs us in the long and short run. It's not as if the games are prohibitively expensive. I thnk they're one of the best investments I've made in a long time! :D Thanks again Midnight Synergy!

I agree - especially, considering the fact that I've purchased games for the same or greater price that I tired of after a week or so. OR, after purchasing a full version of a game, discovered it really wasn't what was promised. Wonderland & RTW have delivered MORE than was expected! The price is MORE than reasonable!

Yes, especially with the level exchange! The game stays fresh and entertaining unlike any other I've tried. :)
