A fun challenge, Kiki! It took me several tries to get everything right, but finally did it! The first time through, I made it harder than it needed to be. Took the short cut the next time. Thanks for all the fun!
At last I made it! Completely flummoxed for a while after I'd done the beginning, then by accident I discovered what to do. A bit of fine tuning once the generator was working, and Qookie went bouncing and squeaking out of there!
can anyone tell me how to work the blue button at the beginning, I know about stepping on the timer then the button and it keeps the gate open but I just don't know what to do here ..........

This level goes back a bit, After the green sphere lands on the light blue button push the blue sphere into the boxes then the barrel down next to the cannon. now go and step on the timer and push the green sphere down but stay on the button for a second to let the sphere clear the area, Now step off the button before the timer runs out, the gate will open when it does, Step on the timer once more and collect the coin and step off the button before the timer runs out now your home free to do the rest of the level.
so I thought I'd try my hand at it this time. 
Worked like a charm and won the gold, without your hint too.
