Here is a clue to reduce your possibilities: Replace the cannon with a pinkie cube.
Here is another: Don't throw any boxes off to the water from the first island.

I'll be posting the walk-through shortly. The object of the first island is to cover the white button and navigate all four tramps. Later, you will only need to destroy one shadow, and not by the obvious means.
Here's the Official Marinus Strategy Guide that banishes any shadow of doubt you may have.
1.
- Step D.
- As fast as possible: Get clock and stand 2 right of TP.
- Push box L through TP. Push lower box 2L, and other box U.
- Step R through TP to blue button.
- Jump URRR on travelator, and travel LD.
2.
- Push box D through TP.
- Travel UDL UDL URD, and push cannon D in water.
- Travel UDR DLU and push prism L.
- Travel RU, and get coins in white and blue gates.
- Travel DUL DLD R, and push prism U.
3.
- Travel LUR DRD LU, and push prism U, in water.
- Travel RUL DL, and push box 2U over tramp.
- Travel R, push box R, and 3L on travelator.
- Go 2R, D through TP, and push box D on aqua.
- Travel RU and get coin in aqua gate.
4.
- Travel DLU, and push box U in water.
- Travel R, push box 2R, and 3L on travelator.
- Go RUR through TP, and push box R in water.
- Get coin right of shadow, and walk back
- Jump UU, get last coin, and exit

Did I hear right that you're supposed to push the canon in the water,
and then do something with the prism?
