Help Please!!!

Post by Purluc » Thu Oct 27, 2005 12:42 am

In a moment of madness I have inadvertantly deleted my personal file within the Main Customer Levels file.

Is there any way that I can retrieve this please as I have also cleared my recycle bin before I realised what I had done.

Do I just create a new file within the window? But something tells me that it is not quite so simple as that.

Luckily my folder was empty as I am still coming to grips with this fabulous game and havent attempted any level building as yet.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

What personal file? Do you mean your player file? Or is it something else?

If you mean a folder you made to keep your own levels in, then you can just make another one. If it was empty anyway you haven't lost anything. :?

As I think someone else mentioned before, you can use, depending on your computer, "go back" or system restore and every thing should be there. Just go back to a date and time when you had all of the files. Hope this helps!

I'm sorry, Susan, but that doesn't help!!

This may sound harsh, but unless people are 100% sure of what they are talking about, they should not give computer technical support. The advice given may not be correct and, in the worst cases, will even make things worse.

People must stop giving this piece of advice. What they are telling people with accidentally deleted folders and files or with similar problems is not true!!!

I must have to tell people this at least 10 times a week.

System Restore monitors changes to the Windows Registry, Critical System files and other files with certain extensions.

It is not a backup program. It does not backup all the files on the computer.

It is not a universal cure-all for all Windows XP problems.

It will not make previously deleted personal files 'magically' reappear. If you have deleted a file in a personal folder, (e.g. a custom level, Word doc in My Documents), running System Restore will not bring it back.

If a personal file is deleted and the Recycle Bin is emptied, the only way to get the file back is to use a specialist 'undelete' file restore program.

Thank you all for your suggestions and help.

The folder that I mean (for Mette) is the folder within the Custom Levels folder.

I believe it is that which I keep any levels that I make myself and is the first or second item on the screen when I go into the custom levels listings to play the custom levels that I have downloaded.
