I'm going to use this thread to put the production of my Online Wonderland Fangame in - starting with yesterday.

2008, July 14th:

Worst. Day. Ever. I got a lot done today, only to suffer from TGF2 crashing and reducing me to a very broken copy.

I recovered what I had and more in Gameplay, but not graphically.

2008, July 15th:

A picture says a thousand words - But then how many words would a 5 minute 40 second long video say?

NOTICE: Minor language in the video - two unexpected things happened, so I said 'What the hell' twice. Also, the word 'Crap' is used when I get stuck in a wall - twice.

3D is hard, I mean, I thought. You can't always expect a 3D MMORPG (like TT). Being 2D doesn't make games bad. Think of all those early games...

As a matter of fact, yes. MapleStory was rated Best Online MMORPG of all America (North AND South) last year - also there are over 3,000,000 players is America alone.

Also it's way more popular than RuneScape.

Tyteen, do you even make games yourself? If you don't, then you have no idea how difficult 3D actually is.

I agree with you...Super Mario Bros. was a hit for the NES! I still fool around with it with the special "Game Genie" cheat device for the NES!

What I never undestand is this "3D ROCKS 2D SUCKS" mindset of many, many people.

It doesn't even seem like these people have played 2D games at all. Both 2D and 3D can be really good.

Exactly. TGF2 can have 3D GFX, but not a fully fledged 3D game.

I know next to nothing for coding languages, so no 100% 3D, but I DO have some 2D isometric planned, built off of my old Adventures In Wonderland engine.

BTW, A.I.W is a stopped project due to too many glitches with buttons.

Wow, some people don't know about the past.
Anyway, the good thing about 2D is that you can spend your time creating the game not worrying so much about the graphics, and bugs caused by 3D (for example, getting stuck in walls, which can be annoying enough in 2D).

Tyteen, if you like, you could try making a 3D game. MS has done it over and over again.
