Portal Fanfiction (or any fan fiction, for that matter)

Post by ben-09 » Tue Mar 30, 2010 3:37 am

On the internet I found a really good portal fan story called : The Difference Between You and I
Chapter 1 : I'm Still Alive
Chapter 2 : The Orchestrator
Chapter 3 : A Renewed Partnership

I really like this and can't wait for the next one. :D
You can post other portal fan fiction that you like here. (or fan fiction for other games, too)

Ooh, I know fanfiction.net! I have two accounts on there.

I like writing fanfics for the book The Hunger Games.

fanfiction.net contains all sorts of fan fiction.
Warnings for anyone who wishes to read it:

1) Look at the age rating before reading.
2) Look at the age rating before reading. Ponder whether risking it is a good idea.
3) Though with fan fiction, risking with the age rating is never a good idea.
4) Look at the comments before reading to find out if the author decided to put an improper age rating just to be a jerk.
5) And for the love of god, look at the age rating before reading.

EDIT: For clarification, by "it" I mean "other fanfics, not related to this one". This one seems fine and apparently it's actually good.

This might be more understandable to me if I had portal. I only saw Quloof's Quantum Tunnel trailer, and that's the closest I've ever been to Portal.
Remember to look at the dates that every post is made. It's been many years, and I, and others, may not be the same people we were when we made them. This is a symbol of where we came from, and should be remembered as that.

It will be very hard to understand if you have never played Portal. :)

I haven't played, but I know the plot. GLaDoS and her freinds were killing when What's-Her-Name came so they had someone to test. She got rid of the thingy that makes stuff good which was bad then she got rid of other stuff. Sadly, she never got the piece of cake she wanted, and was reduced to listening to bad singing. Am I close? :D

Not really, but you have an idea.

The player's character is a female named Chell who is a test subject to test the Portal gun. GLaDOS is the computerized Genetic Lifeform and Disk Operating System and conducts announcements through the test chambers. GLaDOS claims that there is cake at the end of the test, but writing in some areas says that "the cake is a lie." In Test Chamber 19, it was revealed that GLaDOS was lying and Chell nearly got scorched by flames, but she narrowly escaped and managed to find a path out of the test chambers. She ended up in the framework of the chambers, and after a lot of exploring, she finally found GLaDOS. It was revealed GLaDOS killed all of the other workers of Aperture Science. Chell then defeated GLaDOS by incinerating all of her power cores. Chell woke up later outside of Aperture Science, and she was free.

This was true before the Portal update that included a new Achievement.

Now, canonically, what happened is this:

After the portal malfunction upon GLaDOS' destruction, Chell landed, barely conscious, outside of the facility. However, in doing so, she landed in the Party Escort Submission Position (which GLaDOS asked her to assume after she escaped Chamber 19, by lying down on her stomach with her arms at her sides). This seems to be one of the only times GLaDOS didn't lie, because she also stated that a Party Associate would come and collect Chell for her party.

Which is exactly what happens. While she's lying barely awake on the ground, a robotic voice is heard from behind her: "Thank you for assuming the Party Escort Submission Position." As Chell starts to lose consciousness, she is dragged off by the robot in question.

Hence Portal 2.

Highlight to read the plot so far:
The Party Associate Robot apparently put Chell in stasis, similar to what the G-Man did to Gordon Freeman. She wakes up hundreds of years after the events of the first game, in the ruins of Aperture Science. After wandering aimlessly, she finds what appears to be an upgraded one of GLaDOS' Power Cores, named Wheatley. They begin to navigate the ruined facility together, until they accidentally set off a falling floor in a room, likely one of GLaDOS' death traps. Wheatley tries using the console nearby to deactivate it, but forgoes a logical password-finding algorithm: "AAAAA? No? AAAAB? Come on! AAAAC? You've got to be joking!" The floor descends, and a familiar voice is heard over an intercom: "Oh, it's you... I've been real busy since we last met. Busy being dead. You know, after you murdered me? We need to put aside our differences for the sake of science. You monster." It turns out that this is another "experiment" of GLaDOS'.
Anything beyond that... I have no idea

I made it Half way through "Power Off" before I had to go to bed.

For some reason, the end of every chapter makes me cry.
