No.

I can understand why people think that, but it's MUCH better than the official school system for several reasons.

1 - You can learn at your own pace, whether it's slower than normal classes or faster. It's unbelievable how idiotic the school districts here think we are, so homeschooling allows us to actually learn new things.

2 - No bullying whatsoever. The main reason I dropped out of Grade 8 was because pretty much everybody in my class hated me. Of course, this isn't an issue while homeschooling.

3 - Unlike public schools, which grade you based on how pretty your project is, homeschooling is different in the fact that you're graded based on your comprehension of the subject, which is much more fair.

4 - Since the classes are usually only one or two people, you'll be able to ask about anything you don't understand and get a response relatively soon. Public schools fail in that regard because teachers can't help everyone at once.

5 - It's nowhere near as harsh with deadlines and things like that. I remember at my old school if I was even a day late, I would automatically lose a mark for it, which is, to put it mildly, ridiculous.

6 - Provided you work hard enough, then you'll have more free time on your hands, which can be used for pretty much anything.

7 - What you're doing for a certain subject can be pretty much anything as long as it's relevant. Public schools are somewhat like that, but not enough so that you can work at your own pace without getting bored.
Oh... Well, that's understandable. About #1, I guess I wasn't really looking from your perspective since I go to the Cape Elizabeth School District which is one of the greatest in the nation (many kids are still bums, though) where it actually teaches us stuff...
You DO?

Well, my father used to go to some sort of school where you learn almost EVERYTHING, and now I can learn a lot from him. He also used to be a scuba diver, a pilot, even a commando. But, luckily, he's not the kind of father who expects his children to be good at something just because he is.

How do you compare?

Yeah, I guess. Maybe since my schools are the best in the nation I have something against homeschooling.

It looks good, but that's off-topic.

To introduce a random branching discussion topic:

I think homeschooling is a suitable replacement for elementary-through-middle school education. However, once a kid reaches high-school age, I think it's wise that they enroll in high school, because it would be extremely hard for parents to teach all the diverse subjects that you learn in the average high school... calculus, world history, literature, language, etc. Even if the parent hires tutors for separate subjects, that would cost a lot of money. Public school is free, and is a much friendlier environment than middle school. I met some kids in my high school years who were previously homeschooled; they were nice and seemed to get along fine in public school. I also just graduated, and I think that everyone should have that opportunity, the ceremony and afterparty are so fun. :D

STOP BRAGGING. How would you know that it is one of the best in the nation? (What nation do you live in, anyway  ) Because the school tells you? Lots of schools say that.

Well, let's just take that as his opinion.

BELOW IS MEDICAL ADVISE THAT SHOULD BE FOR REFERENCE ONLY
@Lexie: From the things you tell us I don't think it is just ADHD. I think you need to talk to tails' parent about this and take him to a mental doctor.

My intention wasn't to brag, I was just saying my school is good enough so I don't need to be homeschooled because I actually learn new things every day. The reason why(?) people switched to homeschooling is because they weren't learning anything. And since you asked, I live in Maine which is in America of course.

I switched to homeschooling because everyone in my grade level hated me for... hell if I knew why, it was awful. At first I just dropped out, but then I started homeschooling.

It's the best way to be educated. The BEST.
That's actually pretty subjective. Yes, I homeschool, and yes, I like it much more than regular schooling, but its quality depends on how well of a job your teachers do.

If they do a good job, they can match or even surpass trained teachers, giving you an edge over normal schooling. If they don't do as good of a job, it's a huge disadvantage; I remember you said you didn't know where you live, correct? Considering that you're being homeschooled by your parents, if you don't know where you live, then they aren't doing a very good job of it. :|

There's another problem - there are actually quite a few schools that skimp entirely on geography. My old one was no exception.

1. In geography we don't learn about american states.
2. We don't call them 'grades' here. :P
