The amount of stupid posts here will asplode the internet

Post by MyNameIsKooky » Wed Nov 24, 2010 6:02 pm

You can see how the amount of stupid posts in the Off-Topic increases exponentially each year.

2007: 1 stupid post per hour
2008: 2 stupid posts per hour
2009: 4 stupid posts per hour
2010: 8 stupid posts per hour

And continuing on...

2011: 16 stupid posts per hour
2012: 32 stupid posts per hour
2013: 64 stupid posts per hour
2014: 128 stupid posts per hour
2015: 256 stupid posts per hour
...
2020: 8,192 stupid posts per hour
2021: 16,384 stupid posts per hour
2022: 32,768 stupid posts per hour
...
2057: 1,125,899,910,000,000 (1.12 quadrillion) stupid posts per hour, internet asplodes and all the internet systems in the world collapse.

Those are American quadrillions, that's not such a problem. If it were European quadrillions it would be many times worse.

Also, in 2057 I'm 87 (if I'm not under the ground by then) so the entire internet may explode then as far as I'm concerned.

Some people would consider this a stupid post because there is no maths behind your reasoning and you have not proved it. the 'lecture' thing made me laugh.

I'm laughing at how you're failing to realize this is a joke.

I didn't know that's the definition of stupid posts. :)

Indeed he didn't prove it, but there is maths though: for 2007 + n years ==> 2^n stupid posts. That's a mathematical calculation.

Kooky, indeed I agree it's a funny joke. Should belong in the appropriate jokes topic. 8)

Obviously the math isn't correct. The problem is still present, there are too many users joining now who just don't read the rules. MS is the only one who can take action against their accounts. Us moderators can only lock, move, delete, edit, and split topics or posts. Nothing more.

This is why MS should change that.
Mods should be able to take action against accounts just like any other forum.
MS should also have a new activation system where you also have to summerize (SP) the rules. That would rid the forum of these unusual amounts of spam.

Well, Deeman, then I suggest you start summarizing the rules, to let your account be continued. 8)

And which accounts do you want the Mods to take action against? And what action? And why?

Rather, I'd say a "Trial Membership" phase would work better - As in someone gets a 10/15/20/etc. post limit. Afterward, a moderator or MS would be able to "upgrade" their account so they can continue posting.

I don't know about Deeman, but the reason I mentioned it is because as-is right now, the only person who can do anything about long-term offenses is MS.

There's no way for a moderator to make a serious ban warning to users. The only thing we can do is ask them to stop spamming/flaming/whatever, we can't say anything like "Three strikes, you're out" because it's not in our capabilities, only MS's. If there was a system more like that, then I think it's safe to say the amount of spam would decrease exponentially.

I know the rules, Marinus.
As for what action: Banning, Suspending, etc.
As for who: I can't say. But You have done alot of the things that i did that got me banned, yet you aren't banned yet. Doesn't mean i'm reffering to you, though.

Deeman, don't talk nonsense. And if you say something about me or anyone else then give proof and a clear explanation.

Qloof, I think that's ok what you said. My post was actually only meant for Deeman's way of acting like: It should be this, and it should be that, Mods should this, and MS should..... everyone should....

Um, no. He hasn't. The reason MS suspended your account was because you were flaming people outright and involved political discussions multiple times after he warned you not to. I haven't seen Marinus do that at all, both here and in the old Off-Topic area.

There's a fine line between flaming and not flaming, and it seems to me the reason he hasn't gotten warned by MS like you have is because he knows what it is.

Even so, I can't remove that form my post.
I believe admins can use the adminstrative panel to change the permissions of mods. Don't know if it works with this forums software, whatever it is.

Even if you were able to remove it, I would not ask you to do. As I said before: Don't look back, look forward!

All I ask you is to stop behave like this, as if you are the boss, who can tell anyone what should happen.

And of course, if you (or anyone else) think something is wrong, and you have a good explanation why, then you can say it. But then say it at that moment. Don't say it in general without explanation, and don't say it afterwards, like: Kapcero this and Marinus that. Like we say in Dutch: Afterwards you watch a cow in the anus.

Because, what I said in the other topic, I still can talk afterwards about all of your posts, although I would rather not do that. That's the only warning I can give you as a non-admin, non-mod, just a normal forum-member, but I hope it's enough!

Again: Don't look back, look forward! :)

Could work if there is little traffic and only with little traffic.

Well, if there is a 3-strikes thing allowed to mods, then we'd become sectional admins, and that would be cool.
Yet I like the trial membership idea more. Isn't that from Sonic Retro? They do that there too.

Deeman, "has" or "had"?

Since the new subforum, I didn't see that much spam like before, and also I didn't see people pointing out posts as spam, neither you nor other people, so actually I think it's not that bad yet.

Yes, that means that Nobody (N, please correct me if I'm wrong) still was thinking that the original Wefight topic is going to be moved to the new offtopics.

(But well since nobody ever has made a list of topics which they want to be moved (as far as I know) it's the question if that ever happens)

So, for now that is just the Wefight topic. I thought that it's quite obvious to most people, but well, I'm not quite sure about your brain capacity.

Also, if Nobody makes only one (Wefight) topic doesn't make this forum a mess. Making a new topic for every little question, every little thing like you do, does! Please don't misunderstand me; I'm not saying that it's bad or even against the rules, absolutely not. I only say that it makes the forum a bit messy, in my opinion. Someone else may have a different opinion.

BTW, great idea to ask for renaming the other topic into Club Penguin, you're starting to learn! :D
