Wait, there were grue references in MOFI? Back then I haven't been able to get all that far, so I don't know... Anyway, xyzzy is from Colossal Cave Adventure, and grues are from Zork. There are also other things often referenced in various games, such as plugh, which is another magic word from CCA. These references are actually more common in other text adventures.

And TOWA.

In both games: 'It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.'~Exact quote from Zork displayed randomly in dark areas

I only remember the exact quote appearing in an RTW custom level... and Zork itself, of course, but... what do you mean by TOWA? First Wonderland Adventures game?

I *have* walked around in the dark in WA and didn't see anything about grues... maybe there is something like that in MOFI?

It randomly chooses between that message and the normal "It is very dark message" if you don't have a lamp or glowgem.

The message "It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a Grue." gets displayed in areas where the lighting is set to 0 0 0, which IS pitch black. Go figure.

@Muz: It's not in a dialog box, it's on the bottom, like the messages 'You can't use this item here.' and 'It is very dark. You need a lamp.' and 'This is the wrong key for this gate, see?'[/nottheexactmessages]

The things on the left might need to be hit with a fireball.

Yay, more pictures! I LOVE PROGRESS! :D

There seems to be some sort of holes in the pit at the right. Or maybe it's just part of the LevelTexture.

As for the thingies at the left, I'm guessing they're enemies of some sort? I don't really have much to prove that, aside from how they look very similar. They seem to be at different orientations or something.

Anyways, I edited the brightness and contrast to help us-DANG IT STINKERSQUAD!

Side effect, I prefer .png over .jpg because of that.

There's a 95% chance that it's a jpg artifact. I can't recall a time when a .wlv model has glitched.

EDIT: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Trolololololol.

As for the pod things, I am pretty certain that they are the same object, because they both share the little handle things, which the ones at their right appear to be identical. You can also see that the rim of that blue circle thing on the top one is visible on the bottom one. SUCH DETECTIVES WE ARE

WOO PROGRESS

As others said, I can't see many new things except from the structures on the left. They might be turrets of some sort? Or maybe a message tube of sorts?

I doubt it. Referencing grues is reasonable, but I couldn't see MS just adding Grues into Wonderland instead of coming up with his own enemy like he has in the past.

Pah, at least he's giving us information, unlike a certain company behind the third entry in another well-known series...

Fireflower in mario: power up that allows you to throw fireballs.
Fireflower in WA: Dangerous beast that shoots fireballs.
Not the same.
As for WA being made before mario, *facepalm* :?
